Chris was a great choice for a third panel member. He's a good comedic foil for Gus and logical foil for Sally.
Plus it turns out some of his science knowledge is on point.

I'm so glad this is a thing. To see what the general public (chris) sees as evolutionary science is so important to me as a conservation biologist. Thank you so much roosterteeth! hope to be closer to you guys if i get admitted to Texas A&M for their Wildlife Graduate program!!!!

To be honest I thought adding a third person wouldn't really work, but Chris is really good at not interrupting or knowing when the show must continue, so good call on adding Chris. Also, he's hilarious so that's a bonus.

I like this new update to the show but it should've kept the same name "let me clarify" since Sally is now literately clarifying what Chris is saying. And it would be great if it was an hour long since answering one question takes so long to answer.

I really enjoy the addition of Chris as the "common man" factor.  Gus asks questions and Sally is the expert, so having Chris there to sort of put into words what the average person would think is a really interesting dynamic.  Kudos to whole team for this show!

Not just you.  Chris didn't do anything for me.  It'd be funny if he were getting answers wrong, but he was getting them right.  That's not funny.

But beyond that, in general, I don't tune into this show for funny.  I tune in to learn stuff. So why are we forcing it to be funny?

So great, and I love how having a third person encourages the discussion more! I much prefer this format to the other one. Having a cycling 3rd person wouldn't hurt, so Chris isn't always in the hot seat, but even if this is the everlasting trio, I can dig it. Good job RT listening to viewers and updating accordingly. :)

I love this show. Chris adds some one of a kind humor and Sally's knowledge is awe inspiring. I wished it was more like the question and answer style from Podcast #412. Touching on a bunch of topics and learning how much of the world is SCIENCE. Also Gavin's perspective would be nice if you could ever get him on the show too. Besides that great stuff. Love you guys.

I like the format. Having Chris give his idea for the answer is a good way for him (and the viewers) to really learn what they're discussing. (It works that way for me at least: come up with an idea from what I already know then look up the answer. If I was right, that information was already in my mind. If I was wrong, I "replace" what I had with the correct info.)

In the future, I hope they answer more than two questions an episode though.

I know they've stuck with Evolutionary Biology because that's Sally's expertise, but I wonder if they plan to expand and discuss other topics with other experts. Though I'm sure to get many sections of the audience to watch those episodes, they'd have to find an expert who is a good-looking woman like Sally. That might be hard to come by in some fields (the result of a completely different issue that I won't get into), which is a shame because this show is a good opportunity to get people interested in a wide variety of topics.

Queen Elizabeth put white paint on her face to look paler so that the people would revere her as a saint, something more than just a human, much like Batman. Had nothing to do with making her more attractive.

you must have misunderstood, the level of white in the paint was actually an extension of the attractiveness feature, she wanted to go so white because it leveled her past attractive person to "apparent god being" it was very hip at the time to have people think you were an ephemeral spirit

But that does raise interesting questions; does/would it suck? is it inappropriate to be attracted to someone who doesn't share the same sexuality as you? Is it an issue that her absolute intelligence, and her sarcastic intellectualism that is it, what does it for me, especially since i am majoring in a sister science(Cultural Anthropology) to her mastery?
      (Plus the P.O.S.H. accent  ;-) <3 )
Are there social constructs that i am unaware of that outline why it would suck?

    • Vhoxz FIRST Member Star(s) Indication of membership status - One star is a FIRST member, two stars is Double Gold

No, it doesn't suck. It's perfectly natural.

First let's see what love and crushes are all about (compact version, you could write a 3000 page book about this stuff) :

Having a crush is a mix of sexual and emotional attraction. The emotional attraction is a evolutionary inheritance, It is a drive. Basically it's a bit like the sexy animals they talked about but from a psychological view. Love is kind of a insurance to bond with another person and helps people to invest into raising their kids.

Love happens in several parts and is completely driven by hormones and neurotransmitters in your body: Testosterone, oestrogen, dopamine, serotonin, oxycotin and vasopressin if .
This chemical mix is extremely powerful and it will make you go crazy.

They make you feel physically and emotionally attracted to other people. And they make you like that feeling. It's addicting. And it's also because of our evolution as a species. We are social animals, we need to stick together to survive.

Now is it wrong to fall for someone who doesn't share the same sexuality as you or for someone that basically isn't interested in sharing a romantic love with you?

No, it's perfectly normal. On average there are about 800 people in the world who would be a perfect match for you. so that's about 0.0001% of the population on the planet.

you have really high odds to fall in love or have a crush on the wrong person if you would meet all the people in the world.

However you will never meet all the people in the world, you actually meet a really small number of people during your entire life. And that brings us to the final conclusion (and it's pretty depressing to be honest):

Given the probability most people you meet will be wrong for you.

Now, having a crush is also a survival mechanism. Showing to someone else that you're attracted to them can ensure you and the other person of finding a suitable partner

Now it would seem that I talked more about actual love than about attraction but you can't have one without the other really. Feeling attracted to someone is basically the lust part of love, whether it's physical, emotional or both.
Because of our better ways of communicating with people around the planet we're just feeling attracted to more people because we see more people (internet, television, apps)

Look, when my parents married it was simple: They lived in a small town, ran into each other and fell in love somehow (don't need details). Now there is so much more choice for everyone and finding the right person is getting harder and harder.

Now if you really want to know more about things like this read some evolutionary psychology books.

I learned this stuff in college for my bachelor of socio-educational care work, special needs provision and remedial education (try writing that on a card I dare you), It's been a while tho.

      TLDR:

There's nothing wrong with having a crush on someone, it's perfectly natural. It's SCIENCE
