Going through these after a break... cooking stuff right off the bat.

Cheese = milk + yeast + curdling agent (rennet, citrus-based, brine, or other) allowed to ferment, essentially.

Curds and whey: after the curdling agent is mixed in, the milk + yeast mixture separates into solids floating in liquid; the solids (curds) are strained out of the liquid (whey) and pressed together, then allowed to rest (the timing depends on what kind of cheese is being made). Whey can be dehydrated/concentrated and used further in cooking or for health- like whey protein powder- or as a very nice fertilizer for watering your garden (kinda smells if you use too much, though).

One time I saw a spooky ghost and it turned out my brain was just interpreting stimulus that I didn't have the proper context for, and due to living in a society where ghost stories are told my brain jumped to that as a plausible conclusion because we're creatures of reason and experience. Spooooky

1.) I briefly dated a guy who thought it was hot when girls farted. Not emotionally like Kirk, but like with a boner. I honestly didn't feel comfortable farting around him (we only dated a few months), so I unfortunately wasn't able to satisfy him in that way.

2.) Re: ghosts, I've always kinda been on the fence about them, and my husband was firm in that they don't exist. When we first moved into our new apartment 3 years ago, his grandma gave us a painting that she and his grandfather bought in the 70s. For background purposes, his grandfather died like 2 years prior to us moving. The painting's a pretty mountain scene with trees and hills and such. We hung up the painting in our living room above our couch where it remained until about two weeks ago when my husband moved it to place some shelving there instead. He stuck the painting in our second bedroom, and leaned it against a storage container. About 5 days later one of our cats knocked it over and they all laid on it and stuff. I shooed them away, examined the painting and leaned it back against the container. Last Saturday night/Sunday morning, I got up in the middle of the night to pee and noticed the painting was in front of our bedroom doorway, blocking it perfectly. My husband works nights so I thought that maybe he came home moved it to keep the cats out for some reason. The next afternoon he brought it up and asked why I moved the painting. My heart fell out of my ass, and I insisted that I hadn't moved it, that I thought he had. He stated that it was like that when he came home, and maintained that I must have moved it in my sleep since I do take sleeping pills. I wasn't convinced, but there was no point in continuing the debate. Later that night, we went grocery shopping and came home around 7pm. After putting away the groceries, I plopped on the couch and stayed there while my husband made a snack. I must note that he also went to the bathroom in the hallway, where our bedroom doorway is visible, and didn't note anything of importance. He ate and we cuddled on the couch, and he fell asleep on me for like an hour. When he woke up, I really had to pee (why is it when I have to pee), and went to the bathroom in the hallway and the painting was back in front of our door. It again somehow moved about a yard from the container in our second bedroom, and was learning perfectly in the doorway yet again. I almost began to cry as I beckoned my husband over. I could see the instant realization and fear on his face. He just started shaking his head and saying "I don't know, I don't know." So, we stated out loud for all to hear that we got the message, and hung the painting back up in our living room. It's been 5 days and nothing has happened since. We joked that maybe it's his grandfather who was upset we let the cats hangout on a painting he spent good money on.

I've actually have seen a spirit face to face. I woke up in the night, which I never do because I am a super heavy sleeper, I had an increased heartbeat, a cold sweat, and was hyper aware. I looked towards my ceiling and saw a dark being manifest out of the ceiling, the being was a woman with long, wet hair. She lunged towards me and disappeared before my eyes and when I tried to scream nothing came out, I was silent. I immediately got up turned the lights on and went to the bathroom and splashed my face with water to make sure I was awake.

Similarly, I've also seen the same being move across from one corner of my room to the other, another night. Same thing happened like in the first night I saw it. I woke up in a strange way, saw the being, and tried to scream and was silent.

I do believe life exists elsewhere in the universe.  Whether or not we will ever see meet or discover it I don't know.  But on the subject of ghosts.  Barb said she thought everyone has had a supernatural experience.  If that is true I am a freak of nature.  I don't believe in ghosts  I've never had an experience that could be described as supernatural, ghostly, or anything like that.  I don't know I mean I believe in life after death but I don't think a human spirit can bleed through the different realms of existence.  (sorry getting all Christian here but it goes to my point) Because of my faith and what I think is true.  I don't think that those who die can come back they go to heaven or hell and that is where they stay.  But a demon or angel can interact with the living.    So all these ghosts that people have seen are not the dead returning but the demons and angels screwing with us.  Might I be wrong?  Absolutely I may be Christian but I am also a skeptical scientific minded person.  So maybe I am wrong I won't know till I die.  But then I won't be able to tell you because I'll be dead.

I took that risk with my girlfriend of 3 years and I was happy that I did. Yeah, things may not work out the way it did for me but you owe it to yourself and to her to be honest about it when you get to that level of trust with your partner. Alien life is also just moss on a different planet, and we're pretty confident we'll find that in our lifetime. Ghosts are a different thing, belief in ghosts is an American cultural thing, if old buildings would house ghosts Europe would be filled with them. But people really don't believe in ghosts in the rest of the world.

    • Karinadolores FIRST Member Star(s) Indication of membership status - One star is a FIRST member, two stars is Double Gold

Having both European and Asian background I can guarantee you that there's places outside of America that also believe in ghosts. But it's not like every old building have ghosts in them and that's where they'd live, it could be anywhere (or anyone). And it's not like every dead person hangs back to haunt something, so places wouldn't be filled with ghosts.

    • Quizzical_Quark FIRST Member Star(s) Indication of membership status - One star is a FIRST member, two stars is Double Gold

@Karinadolores, I'm sorry but haunted houses and ghost tourism are just not a thing outside the US. It seems everybody has a ghost story in the US and I would have a hard time finding somebody with a similar story where I live. And I live in a medieval city, with a castle built in 1180 that houses a torture museum. But ghost, nope, not a part of our culture.

    • GeoffLeG FIRST Member Star(s) Indication of membership status - One star is a FIRST member, two stars is Double Gold

@Quizzical_Quark, I'm sorry, but ghost tourism is absolutely a "thing" here in Australia, and N.Z, and the U.K. It appears to be a very Anglo thing, probably drawing on the old myths and stories of Britain. The U.S. does take it a bit farther than elsewhere, though. Very few Aussies devalue their properties over a haunting story.

And belief in ghosts or spirits is very widespread - visit PNG, India, west Africa, Southeast Asia, and they all have their own "spooky" beliefs and customs. The details are different, but most of he world has a culture of ghostly beliefs.

Actually, in my experience, parts of Western Europe are odd for being the least supernaturally inclined places I've ever been.

    • DaniBoi95

Alright cool, so this is literally my thesis. People absolutely do believe in this stuff in the rest of the world. Humans over time and in various cultures have always been afraid of or believe in ghosts. In fact, you could trace this back pretty far in various Asian cultures, as ancestoral spirits are a part of religious belief, such as with Taoism. It's an Anglo-Saxon literature as well. Moreover, lots of countries capitolize on "Ghosts Tours" and things of that nature. Places like Ireland, for example, have tours of "haunted" castles, etc (whether or not they believe they are really haunted, but regardless, the people who pay money generally believe, and they aren't all American tourists). Humans have, for a long time, believed in ghosts - mostly, it's to do with the psychology of the afterlife, whether or not it's fear or something to look forward to. Perhaps your culture does not, but this does not apply to the rest of the world. While perhaps Western Europe is strange in the regard that they do not believe in them as strongly, it is a pretty widespread concept.

    • Quizzical_Quark FIRST Member Star(s) Indication of membership status - One star is a FIRST member, two stars is Double Gold

@DaniBoi95 There's a lot of folklore tales sure, but nobody really believes in ghosts, nobody has experiences and the subject itself doesn't even come up, and I might have to broaden the cultural thing to the English speaking world.

Found some statistics: 8% of Belgian and Dutch people believe there have been aliens that visited the earth, that becomes 0.73% when you exclude people under 21. And only 2% believes in ghosts, with 0.03% for people over 21.

When you compare that to the US Statistics according to National Geographic 77% of Americans believe Aliens have visited earth, and 45% believe in Ghosts... The difference is too big to prove me wrong.

    • Karinadolores FIRST Member Star(s) Indication of membership status - One star is a FIRST member, two stars is Double Gold

@Quizzical_Quark Yes it is, I just googled several countries that all have ghost tourism and the first thing that comes up for Norway (where i'm from) is a list of 8 haunted places to go. And I've heard my fair share of ghost stories from both people i know here in Norway and in the Philippines (where half of my family is from). Saying that it doesn't exist anywhere else just because it doesn't exist where you're from is just ridiculous.

And yes, the US may statistically believe in ghost more than other parts of the world, but that still doesn't prove shit in the argument that the rest of the world doesn't believe in it at all.

    • DaniBoi95

No, that still doesn't account for the fact that many people still believe in ghosts. It is also VERY common for people outside of the United States to be far more into the idea of the occult and the supernatural. In fact, I read frequently that people outside of the US still express fear about things like vampires, wendigos, otherworldly demons, etc. I would argue that people in the US, while they still believe in ghosts, are becoming disillusioned about the idea of the supernatural in general. I have met very few people who actually believe in ghosts in the US myself. While I personally think ghosts (much like many unexplained things) are possible, I don't have an answer myself. The US isn't isolated and dumb as you perhaps are implying.

There is actually a lot of evidence of ghosts. Personal experiences aside, there are plenty of collected videos of unexplained voices, orbs of light, and things moving with nothing to move them.

Heck, look at Josh Gates, Destination Truth's episode on the haunted forest of Romania. There is a bit too much going on to be coincidence.

There's also a lot of fabricated stuff out there to make money. those orbs of lightning videos can easily be explained by natural phenomenons, or glitches in the camera. or simply duts particles on the lens, lens flares and so on...  very small bug on the lens, another bugSomeone literally playing with a reflective surface

I personally have had a minor supernatural experience, but it could be explained by my mind, making it up.

You know, it is people that automatically call things fake that make people afraid to put out evidence because no matter how compelling the evidence, they will be ridiculed and called liars. How do you explain people getting scratched by invisible things or suddenly start bleeding through the ears after going into a haunted location?

Yes there are a lot of fabricated stuff but there are also a lot of real things too that people automatically write off as fabricated because they want the status quo to continue.

It is also hard to write off your mind making things up when other people see it as well. Personal experiences speaking.
