My family has been helping my sister the past few weeks. Her and her husband's home was completely flooded, 4+ feet of water for a week and a half. All of us live in the Houston area, so we were incredibly blessed to have only one of us flood, but canoeing to my sister's home to rescue things like her wedding dress, and photos from her time in New York, and seeing her ruined piano. It's just hard. Thank you Burnie, I know they're probably not going to get the kits you made, but you are remembering that people like them are still suffering, and that means everything to me and the people of the area. And thank you for coming down to the area and helping even more. Looks like either the Sugar Land area or the SH6 area, judging by the water levels and the styles of homes, same area as a lot of my friends and my sister. Glad your friends are safe Burnie.

I just wanted to comment to say how much this meant to me, having family in the area that experienced this disaster, and being from Florida and having family and friends who also just got hit by Irma. You have no idea how much it means to me that you guys made this happen, and how much you continuously warm my heart by the good you do for the community. I couldn't be more proud to be a part of the Rooster Teeth community! Keep being awesome ♥

    a) burnie, what is up with the jersey shore hair? b) of course there's gender specific deoderant, male and female bodies have different make ups that require different chemicals to produce the same effect. c) this is a pretty cool tutorial on how to help out those in need in a crisis such as this.

I remember when I was a kid and my family got displaced because of flooding we got boxes like that and I remember how great it was to have my own pillow and toothbrush and stuff, but the note always stuck with me who ever made my box drew a picture of Superman and Bullwinkle.

If anyone is looking to build disaster relief kits themselves I highly HIGHLY recommend throwing in a pack of playing cards or a small game of some sort (Uno, Bingo, etc.). Maybe it seems silly but many people in a disaster no longer have power or internet and a little entertainment can keep the stir crazy at bay, or help relieve stress after a long day of ripping all your sheetrock out!

Love that Burnie and Rooster Teeth did the vlog and remember us down here in Harvey's path <3 With Irma hitting Florida and the earthquake in Mexico it seems like there's a lot of bad to interfere with people's lives. Its so wonderful to see that there's an equal or greater amount of love going around to counteract the disasters! Stay safe everyone <3

My dad was displaced from Rockport, and still hasn't gone home yet. I went three days without hearing from him when the hurricane first hit, and got him out as soon as I could.

He's now staying with my brother in Dallas, and didn't need to go to a shelter, but it really means so much to me that you guys are doing this for the folks of Houston, where I lived for 12 years.

All the feelz. Thanks, Rooster Teeth.

The last two cyclones that hit Central Queensland in Australia, cyclone Marcia and Yasi, for Marcia it was 2 years ago and family's are still struggling to get government assistance or any assistance whatsoever and when Yasi hit, it was mental the amount of damage that was caused and is still not fixed yet.

If there is one thing i know is that the cleanup and repair for the Texas area is going to take years, not months, years.

As Burnie showed places in Houston are still in the process of recovering and it is going to be a lengthy and costly process to do so. My family in Houston have lost their home and all of their belongings to the Hurricane and insurance may not be able to replace most of their items since they lived between two dams that overflowed. Because of this my cousin has made a gofundme to help them. I hate to ask for help, but I know any little bit would help my uncle and his family, so if you have any little bit of money to spare please donate it here.

If you got the money and the time, no matter where you live or weather you are affected or not. Just donate. No matter if you donate just five bucks or 5000. It will help. Those encouragement notes were an incredible idea too. Well done rt, keep it up!!

Oh hey Target, we've got those in Australia. Funny, I knew they were in the US but I didn't know it was the same store.

Also, that part in Houston reminds me of the flooding that hit Brisbane in 2011. It was tough seeing people pulling their belongings out of their homes to be taken away to the dump. Their memories and items of happiness destroyed along with their homes. Seeing cars filled with water and covered in mud being pulled out of their garages. But seeing the people coming to help clean up and the people who lost everything just put it all aside to get busy getting their lives back was a great site to see and be involved in. Tragedy can make people more resilient and determined. Brisbane even had a moment where they thought it could flood again this year. I hope the people affected over there are getting through this one step back to come back two steps forwards.

On disasters, I remember the black saturday bushfires in Victoria and how entire areas where decimated by the blaze, and how long it takes to rebuild whenever these sorts of disasters occur. Because there have been other major bushfires I think, like Brisbane and Houston, there's always the idea that another fire, flood, or whatever will come and wreck it all again. Despite knowing that any rebuilding efforts could be wiped out again, it's always cool to see how people don't let that stop them from getting on anyway (the resilience you were talking about). Hopefully Houston will be able to recover from this with out any further disasters.

Yeah, it certainly brings back memories of the Brisbane floods. It's heartwarming to see how people come together on common ground to help and connect with each other during our worst times. I am glad that RT has a great social conscience for the people around them.

We live in such time where its so easy to see these disasters and those affected so easily its easy to find oneself detached. Perhaps not unmoved but at a point where one doesn't really feel rushed to offer something. This video really reminds me of school drives for crises getting just loaded sky high with top ramen. The fact we get to see what you buy is what actually I find particularly inspiring, and all the more compelling to send help. Money donations go a long way all together, and its heart warming to see the personal touch you've applied here, having considered all bases to offer comfort a family in need out in Houston. Fantastic job.

Ellie is Burnie's assistant so of course they spend a lot of time together, it's part of her job and when they're doing something interesting Burnie may vlog it. Ashley and Burnie have completely different jobs at RT and they said they don't really interact at work much on the podcast and he's not going to vlog all of his private life at home so we don't see Ashley in the vlogs as much! Just because Ellie's a woman there's no need to suggest that Burnie's cheating on Ashley, that's kind of an arsehole question.

With that being said, please don't leave your doggos in the car when you go shopping. If you need to leave the car just let the doggo stay at home or with someone if you were already at work.

Considering you can buy all of those things a lot cheaper when you don't buy name brand (like the tissues), you'll have more money to make more kits.

As someone who's been on the receiving end of charity work for an extended period of time, it's very demoralizing to get the cheap stuff. People will (or at least should) appreciate it either way, but getting name brand stuff lifts spirits a bit more. Or if you do get cheaper stuff, at least throw in a teddy bear with the extra money in case a kid's on the receiving end. Boosting morale is priceless.

After we lost our house in a flood several years ago, we received a cooler of useful items from the Red Cross (boots, trash bags, paper towels, bleach, I imagine the kits vary for different disasters). I can honestly say I didn't even notice what brands they were, we just ripped them out of the packaging and began using them.
My advice would be, if you're shopping for an item, buy what you'd normally buy for yourself (whether it be cheaper or name brand). That way, if you normally buy the off brand, you know that it's quality for a lower price instead of just buying what's cheapest for the sake of saving money.

Thank you for including the notes of encouragement.  The families affected by these circumstances wholeheartedly need all of the love and support they can possibly get.  Watching a company of people like Rooster Teeth empowering others to share the wealth of gratitude and wisdom in response to life's challenges is wonderful to see.  The people of Houston and abroad impacted by hurricane Harvey and Irma are blessed beyond measure thanks to your actions.  You are all amazing people continuing to make a difference.
