Is it bad that I instantly knew what he was trying to say in every one of these?

that moment you realize that the brain at one point in time had to name itself.

In my opinion, Gavin comes off as the smarter one in most of these. The further you get from a source of gravity the weaker it becomes (space grav vs. plan grav) and where is your brain (see headhunte09). But he probably deserves bullying for "the sky is bigger than the earth". And can you hear through your head, maybe I should watch that full video first before judgement.

That last one actually makes sense. The Romans, for instance, thought that people "thought" with their hearts, not their brains. He is asking how someone would know that consciousness comes from the brain, which is a good question.

I'd say it comes from how we perceive the world. We see everything from our eyes on our head, we hear things with our ears also on our head, and we taste with our tongues that are also in our heads. Also yeah the whole damage to your head effecting your thought process would also lead people to seeing the head as the source of thought.

Actually, you do listen through your head. In fact, that's the only way to listen to things. Because, you know, listening is the action of interpreting vibrations as sounds. What you're describing there sounds very similar to a person saying that you don't breath with your diaphragm. Technically speaking, you listen with your brain, but since that's a part of your head, it comes down to the same thing.

If shirts were actually made with Gavinisms I would totally buy them. Confuse the hell out of people with a shirt that says "what if your legs didn't know they were legs?"

You can't listen through your head, you feel the vibrations that sound make. That is what makes your voice different from when you hear yourself recorded, because while you speak you both feel the vibrations of your voice and hear the sound of your voice.

You actually can listen through your head, if someone perfectly seals your ears, you can notice it. One test you can do is knocking on your head, you may notice it.

Actually, many ancient peoples thought that the seat of consciousness was the heart or the stomach (hence Kronos swallowing his offspring). Many cultures figured out that the head was the seat of thought because of the responses of people with both permanent and temporary head injuries. Get hit in the chest; can't breathe for a while. Get hit in the head, can't think for a while.

Every time I hear Gavin's pearls of wisdom I feel like one of those robot bimbos that Kirk, Spock,McCoy and Scottie befuddeled in That Star Trek episode...my head just cocks to the side and goes a little blank before the "SRSLY?" error pops out.

I would argue that Gavin's questions aren't outright foolish, but poorly explained. It certainly doesn't help that podcast crew will give him ample rope. (I admit to being biased in Gavin's favor.)
