I work at a Pizza Hut Express inside a Target and the most annoying thing a customer can do is walk up 5 minutes before closing and ask for something "fresh". It takes 7 minutes for a personal pan pizza to go from the fridge, through the oven, and into the display. it lasts 25 minutes in the display. that means that, at about 30-35 minutes before closing, I have put every pizza that will fit in the display into the oven (this includes pans of breadsticks which are 3 orders a piece). Don't be walking up expecting a pizza fresh out of the oven at 8:55 PM.

    The toblorone argument:

    1:31:43

Gavin: "What difference does it make if it's a bunch of toblorones that's the same the same weight? In fact there's less gap, there's less air gap than a load of............."

Burnie: "How is there less air gap? All the individual candy bars have gap!"

Gavin: "Small gap than a big wedge it's...there's big.....look at that air......."

     Burnie: "It's just scalled up!"

    Gavin: "It's not!"

    1:32:56

Burnie: "A toblorone, they all have the same....they all have the standard gap, its a standard gap in there."

    Gavin: "Yea.....the uh....."

Burnie: "And then they just scaled it up. So if you're filling up the space with toblorones, then you're making like essentially making the same volume of toblorone air to chocolate ratio."

    Gavin: "I just think the......"

    This is what I got:

Burnie: The toblorobes scale the same.

Gavin: The toblorones don't scale the same.

Burnie: The toblorobes scale the same.

Gavin: The toblorobes scale the same?

    Gavin: Well my argument was.......wot?

Burnie is right, kosher is way WAY more complicated than even the stuff he knew (nice job though Burnie, very impressed :) ). The exact rule for meat and cheese is essentially that you cannot cook or eat a kid in its mother's milk (kind of a biblical thing, but is a bit messed up you have to admit). The pig and other mammals thing thing has to do with having a cloven hoof, that's why pig, horse, a few others are off of the table. The shellfish bit is because seafood has to have scales and can't be a 'bottom feeder' (ie it can't eat it's own or other animals shit >> catfish, shrimp, calamari are out, swordfish is controversial). But things can also be kosher, like your house or your kitchen or your work. There's about a million things I missed, but since no one knows these things I thought some people might find it informative, LOL

I really want to take a moment to say thank you to Gus for what he just said about grades. I went to high school in a school district where we had 4 suicides in 4 years between 2 high schools. Since 2008 we have seen 14 suicides, and although a lot of the community acts like they don't know whats going on, people who grew up there do. The school system pressures students to go to college, and rarely even talks about the idea of working after high school. They stress students that they need good SAT scores, and good grades. All the while we as students were in the middle of one of the richest cities in America, so the only acceptable outcome to many of these kids was to be successful, anything less and they thought they would be failures. The idea of failure there could quickly turn in to the feeling of hopelessness. It's important to give people a good education, but its just as important to do it in a way that doesn't cause the statistics for prescription drug abuse in teenagers in the area to skyrocket. I was lucky in the fact that i honestly didn't care about school that much at the time so i bypassed all this stress, but looking back on it i saw a different side of things then a lot of people. I still remember my senior year, we had to do a mandatory meeting with a "College and Career" counselor. I sit down and they ask me where i want to go to college and i said "I don't" i then explained that i was making an attempt to join the Marine Corps. That's when they refused to talk to me about that path. Instead they continued to hand me pamphlets to local community colleges, and papers to help me with my admission essays.

Sorry for ranting on, but i feel strongly about this issue and its rare it comes up in such a big way. But back to the main point, thank you for what you said Gus and its spot on. It doesn't matter what you end up doing, or what your grades are. Stay positive, keep pushing forward, don't lose hope.

Well Burnie was close enough about the Wall. Basically East and West Germany were split up, but Berlin was within East Germany, and the Allies thought it was unfair for the Soviets to get all of Berlin so they split Berlin too. So basically you had a little bit of West Germany surrounded by East Germany and the only way out was one train line.

    EDIT

Oh and the blockade was basically just Soviet outposts in the 40s and the Allies had to fly food over, they didn't airdrop into Berlin after the wall was built though.

I have never had a Big Mac either Burnie.  You're not alone.

I know I like hearing what Andy has to say.

I would cut the toblerone into manageable pieces before I eat it.

What I would cut it with would probably be a table saw, but if that doesn't work a chainsaw will do the job.  Have to make sure the saw would be clean before using it

Also on the topic of the North Korean flag thing Blaine and Gus were talking about. I work in a ski resort town in colorado and a couple years back this town had an international skiing competition. Across the street from where I work there used to be a Sports Authority and I shit you not, Hanging right next to the front door of the building was a North Korean Flag, now I don't know if any North Korean skiers came to the town to perform or the town just hung up a random flag someone had somewhere but by the time I noticed it the event had been over for 2 years (I didn't have my job before then) So idk how but that flag was hanging on that building for 2 years and slipped completely under the radar.

The wall went around West Berlin and the Entirety of the city of Berlin was deep in East German territory But for citizens of East Berlin and East Germany in General one of the best ways to escape to the west was by getting into Western Berlin, the East German government of course found out about this and then built the wall

would like to comment, I work at a Domino's, and the time it says we closed, that's when we stop taking orders, if our hours says we close at 2am, we have to take orders right up to 2am. Gavin's idea about stop taking orders but still open until half an hour after the close time does not happen. So, the person that orders a minute before close is considered an absolute dick.

I'm not saying you're a bad person for ordering, there is a reason the hours say that they're open until a certain time, and it definitely helps that you gave them a really good tip, my point was just to say that it can definitely be very annoying when someone orders so late, and while it's perfectly acceptable for you to have ordered then, typically you want to try to place your order, at the very least, half an hour if not an hour before close

In reference to the whole kosher thing:
    1. Dairy and meat products can't be eaten together or within a certain time period of each other (time differs depending on individual beliefs). Dairy and meat also can't be eaten using the same cutlery, so you have two sets of cutlery, plates, utensils, etc. for eating milk and meat separately.
    2. Certain foods, e.g. fish are exempt from this and are called "parev", meaning they can be eaten with either milk or meat.
    3. Regarding the whole ostrich thing, what makes an animal kosher is based on its group:
    - Mammals must have cloven hooves and chew the cud.
    - Fish must have fins and gills.
    - Birds' feet must have 3 toes/claws/talons/whatever pointing forward and one pointing back, and must not be birds of prey.
    - All other animals can't be kosher, e.g. reptiles, insects, etc.
    4. The animals must also be killed in a certain way by a certain person ("shochet") with a prayer being said. The animal can't have any major blemishes/bruises/injuries on it when killed, which is why most kosher animals tend to be killed young.
    5. There's a bunch of other rules that apply to the preparation of the food, as well as rules for factory production which I won't go into because I don't know all of them and even if I did it would all take even longer to explain than this has. I will mention that there's an even more ridiculous rule than the rest of this list which is that the oven the food is cooked in must be turned on by a Jew otherwise the food cooked won't be kosher AKA all that work for fuck all. This is why kosher restaurants are so rare because even if kosher food is bought, it must be prepared by a Jew otherwise the end product isn't considered kosher.
N.B. This is why many Jews (myself included) don't stick to a majority or any of the rules - it's too much of a hassle

    • Bresbuster FIRST Member Star(s) Indication of membership status - One star is a FIRST member, two stars is Double Gold

Not kosher at all, however it breaks different rules depending on whether or not the meat is kosher. If the burger is kosher then it breaks the dairy and meat rule, and if the burger isn't made of kosher meat then that's the only rule it breaks as the dairy and meat rule only applies to eating kosher meat (as you're not expected to be eating unkosher meat).

Something that will never happen to me again: I was minigolfing with my dad and stepmom and took too long to line up a shot. My stepmom told me to just hit it. I randomly swung. The ball bounced off the curb, backwards toward me, hit the roof of the nearby gazebo, bounced back over me, and landed in the hole in one hit.
