Listening to them talk about serial killers was kind of painful. Because I know a lot about true crime, and a LOT about serial killers, and I love talking about those things and...argh. I need friends.

I know for donating blood that I can't or ill-advised to do so, since I have gone on accutane.  In the instruction booklet I received is when you go on it is that I have to wait 10 years to give blood.  Got off it 5 years ago have another 5 to go.

It's probably been said elsewhere in these comments, but just in case: Reddit's actually pretty aware that it massively hindered the search for the Boston Bombers. "We did it, Reddit!" is often used sarcastically whenever a new witchhunt seems to be brewing to remind everyone to calm down, and there's also often an explanation/quick summary in the child comments on what happened: after having "determined" that this guy was the Bomber, people started harassing their family, publicly naming & denouncing him online. It got to the point where the police/FBI released the names of the actual people they were looking for to the public in an attempt to get people to leave this family alone. This lead to the Bombers being aware they were known, and firing upon & killing the next officer they encountered. Also, the person Reddit had focused on had actually committed suicide a month beforehand, and their family was at the time still without news of him when they started getting called out for having a terrorist in the family....

So, yeah, most redditors who were on the site back then are pretty ashamed of it.

Its the same thing if I clicked "Flamebait" on this longer comment with no reply, The hive mind sees it and stops reading too without reading the rest. Or click read more so they can join in on the hate. Everyone has a megaphone and its called the internet. Its becoming a bigger, kind of Cry Wolf problem online though. Those of us who have been online for years are seeing a slew of people who have no idea what they're doing online. They just know they want to be there, and be heard, and its annoying as fuck. Sorry Im being drunk and honest here with this. The drive for negativity and failure needs to slow down to say the least. Be objective. But..and maybe this isnt asked enough, Do you really care? Like I get thats what tabloids are. But nowadays, a persons career can fall because of a tweet its stupid. Too many voices and whats important doesnt get heard ya? Went on longer than I wanted, but its worth talking about.

Gay men being banned from giving blood is a result of the early days of AIDS when they did not fully understand how it was transmitted and the percentage of homosexuals who had it was sky rocketing. Once they learned it was sexually transmissible the fact that homosexual men at the time often had multiple partners and also did not use condoms made a major risk. In modernity it is not really a major risk, but it was a legitimate concern at one time.

@bgibbles A fantastic video on the use of colour in film:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?...

This list is from the Youtube channel Cinefix and includes a wide variety of styles, genres, time periods, and international films on the list. They also don't simply list ten films, but rather ten different usages of colour and then multiple films for each category.

To save time, since this is a nearly 15 min long vid, the 10 different forms of colour mentioned are:

    10. "Balls to the Wall" Colour - The Fall (2006) Dir. Tarsem Singh

    9. Selective Palate - O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000) Dir. the Coen Brothers

    8. Selected Saturation Palate - Sin City (2005) Dir. Frank Miller, Robert Rodriguez, & Quentin Tarantino. Shout out to Marcus.

    7. Monochrome Palate - Cries and Whispers (1972) Dir. Ingmar Bergman

    6. Complementary Colours (with an honourable mention for Fury Road) - Vertigo (1958) Dir. Alfred Hitchcock

    5. Triadic and Tetradic Colour Schemes - Contempt (1963) Dir. Jean-Luc Godard

    4. Neon Palate - Only God Forgives (2013) Dir. Nicolas Winding Refn

    3. Pastel Aesthetic - Grand Budapest Hotel (2014) Dir. Wes Anderson

2, Muted Palate - The Living Trilogy (2000-2014) Dir. Roy Andersson

    1. Jewel Toned - In the Mood for Love (2000) Dir. Wong Kar-Wai

Anyway. I love this video so much.

I think the reason why that South African guy got a circumcision at 23, I remember reading about this, that some Africa cultures have a right to adulthood for men which is a circumcision, and if you manage to stay still the whole time without making noise or showing a sign of pain then you are officially "a man." in that culture. However I read this like 7 years ago and even if it is right i think the age they typically did it in the article I read was like 16 so I'm probably wrong.

It's quite strange hearing them talk about the Ariana Grande/Manchester thing on this podcast. As someone who lives in Manchester fairly close to the arena (but fortunately not involved in the tragedy) at the time that it happened I had no idea the scale of the situation. To see/hear people around the world talking about it just makes me realise how serious it was (not that I didn't understand that before it just makes it all the more apparent). It's crazy how things are still happening here and the world almost seems to be forgetting about it.

Stay safe out there guys x

On the Blood-type diet topic, I would like to preface this in Sally's voice "Do not, not eat meat!", but I've been a pescatarian for about 3 years with a small break in between to test the theory I've seen great results (Weight-loss, more energy, healthier). As someone with an A+ Blood-type associated with low meat, more fish and vegetables, it fits the theory surprisingly well. Its totally anecdotal evidence, but friends have tried the same thing, and almost without a fault everyone with O blood-types have had negative results and A and B has had positive results. Its interesting, although I have no scientific evidence to support it. Might just be something worth looking into.

There is no scientific evidence in favour of the blood-type diet. I'd definitely be willing to bet that there are some genetic and core biological things that underline how different foods effect us, but I think we're far from decoding that whole thing.

List of non male serial killers:

Countess Elizabeth Bathory (Hungarian): killed children and bathed in their blood

Delphine Lalaurie (American): tourtered and killed her slaves and then burned her house down while some where still in there.

Magdelenia Solis(Mexican): An occult member in Mexico who murdered people for her own sexual pleasure

    Non-White serial killers:

Coral Eugene Watts (Black) "Sunday Morning Slasher”

Anthony Edward Sowell (Black) “Cleveland Strangler”

    Rafael Resendez-Ramirez(Hispanic) "“Railroad Killer”

    Non-american male serial killers:

Gilles de Rais(Frenchmen 1400's): Killed children for sexual pleasure

Andrei Chikatilo(Russian Soviet Era) "Butcher of Rostov": Killed for sexual pleasure

Paul Ogorzow(Nazi germany) "S-Bahn murder": Started sexual assaulting women before being caught by authorities, then started to killing his victims after he did time in jail for his past assaults.

Serial killers all being "white males" is a myth. Serial Killers comes in all shapes, sizes, sexes and ethnicities.

Here's an idea. If global warming keeps happening, slowly the climate bananas can survive in will expand. It might take a few hundred years, but we could plant bananas somewhere else.

As for horror movies and technology, I hate horror movies but I grew up watching The Ring, and the entire plot focused on this VHS tape. Now they made a third one (or fifth?) and from what I've read it still focuses on the video tape. It seems crazy to me, but having it be a viral video might not be as terrifying.

@silencednight01 But I'm saying, if there are seeds that have not been infected, planted in soil that has not been affected, it would take the fungus time to wipe out the new group of bananas even if it's the same strand of DNA.

After hearing that whole eye color conversation. They should watch the movie Gattaca  It came out in 1997.It covers that exact issue where society has been divided by those who were natural born and those whose parent chose their genetic features. Society had basically created a genetic apartheid. Where those who were natural born were treated like second class citizens. It is a really great movie and is really thought provoking.
Despite all the "bad" stuff that happened in the movie i am definitely still 100% for the idea of picking our futures gene pool. If you can ensure a human will have Einstein lvl intellect, is immune to all forms of diseases, will be never go bald, will be 6ft or all of the above.  I see no problem with it. Based on the movie it seemed like society was making a multitude of strides forward. Sure the natural born were intentionally forced into a corner to be forgotten. But i feel like that was really the only solution. its like buying a new computer. Why buy a computer that can only do 100 tasks simultaneously when you can buy a computer that does 1000 tasks simultaneously.

My biggest concern with this kind of thing is that we will never know what effect any change we make would have a several generations down the line. We could inadvertently end up sterilising ourselves a thousand years in the future without ever realising it.

Plus this kind of procedure would likely cost a lot of money, so it would just end up causing even wider societal divides.

Holy shit, Gus knows about the banana thing.

Still, it's specifically the Cavendish banana that's in danger. We lost the Gros Michel banana in the '50s and that was the Main Banana that everyone pictured in their head in association with the word "banana" just like we picture the Cavendish in the present. Our grandchildren might view the Manzano or Goldfinger the same way our grandparents viewed the Gros Michel and we view the Cavendish.

TL;DR: There WILL be another banana.
