I truly do not care about the past careers of Kristen Bell and Ted Samson, but in my opinion, "The Good Place" is the best new show since... well, probably "Kimmy Schmidt". The writing and acting are absolutely brilliant.

I'm really curious, I'm assuming that RT tracks all of the analytics on their own website, but the view count isn't displayed. Why? it would be interesting to see how a video is doing on the site compared to YouTube. Also, there must be differences since on the site videos are arranged chronologically, but are delivered to people who are specifically looking for RT content. . .

Great podcast. I really like the two person format and would love to see more with the original RT/AH gang. Jack, Joel, Matt even Kerry Miles as they have had such a massive part in AH exploding in the 2010's.

I would love to have the time to see what all the fuss about SugarPine is. RT and AH are the only two major content creators that I still watch and that is because of the personalities and relationships that the staff all have with each other, even if the content is something that I may have grown out of a little bit. Geoff is right in that you have to be more selective and watch the stuff that you like.

I subscribe to the channels for the groups of people and I enjoy the content they make, I know I like the people, I don't know if I will like the show. I would rather channels of the same people doing random stuff than random people making the same stuff.

Now, in his vlog Burnie said that Sugar Pine 7 was "too much" but now says it's really good. And they're getting praise from Geoff? Fine, I'll look at their other stuff instead of the (terrible) On the Spot episode, or other appearances.

But if it sucks, Burnie. IF IT SUCKS! I'LL BE... disappointed? I guess? And no one will care ha haa

I would suggest giving their content a watch. The On the Spot episode definitely didn't show off their amazing comedy skills in the best light. It comes across much better in their own videos I feel.

Sugar Pine 7 got me hooked when I first saw Steven's Iceland/marriage proposal video because of the quality editing.  I was so impressed by his edit that I continued to watch his stuff and what eventually became Sugar Pine 7. And I've always known Steven since before SourceFed but I didn't know he had that type of creativity in him and he and the crew quickly became my favorite series to watch.  I don't really pick up on new subscriptions on Youtube anymore but Sugar Pine 7 was really something special that I HAD to watch everyday since it was so good.  Also seeing them have meetings and referencing to RoosterTeeth in their vlogs had me really excited to see them join the RT family, so that's a plus.

I relate to the being good at one thing but wanting to do something else. I'm really good at maths but I would much rather be good at a more creative subject even though maths is valued higher in many jobs. It comes down to doing something you're good at just because you're good at it and not because you like doing it.

The discussion about "gamer" girls and how now everyone is a gamer now (and thus specifying a gamer as a "gamer girl" is unnecessary anymore) is interesting, but it still comes up in tabletop gaming. I work at a tabletop game store and we have a higher-than-average female customer base (clean, well-lit store goes a long way for this), and it's still not a vary large percentage. Certain game genres definitely have more diverse demographics than others (RPGs and board games), but for some reason, the demographics are overall very skewed. Miniatures games are almost entirely males. Anyway, just random observations.

I definitely love this two-person podcast format.  It's nice to hear a more basic, streamlined conversation every once and a while.  Not that the normal 4-person grouping isn't streamlined, but it's just more.. interestingly chaotic.  Plus Geoff's voice, even though he hates it, puts me in such a calm state whenever I hear him talking normally.  (you know, sans the "WHAT"RE WE DOIN JACK?)

When Burnie raised the point about the amount of content that rooster teeth and all its aggregates produces, I think it's really about the fact that RT is essentially the internet equivalent of a TV network like ABC or NBC. The biggest thing though, is the growth into that. I remember watching season 1 of RVB on youtube like 9 years ago, Strangerhood and all of that. Back then though, it was easy to consume all the content that RT made because it was just that much. Then there were RT Shorts and Achievement Guides and Rage Quit so on and so forth. At that point it was still possible to watch all of it if I desired. Now, almost a decade later RT is doing so many things, things like Achievement Hunter, Funhaus, Cow Chop etc. Each of those groups make content and as an audience member, you have to pick and choose.

Geoff said there’s too much TV to watch, it’s the same with content for RT; you gotta pick and choose, but not everyone is down with that for some reason.

Hey, so, Burnie mentioned it being crazy that they're leaving things like the Infamous 535 on the table. Not 100% sure what he means, but just want to throw out that if you ever want to do anything else with the 535 I am absolutely there. I am an actor, I'm currently getting my degree in acting (in part because of my experiences with the 535), so hey, I am very open to doing anything else with RoosterTeeth.

And, y'know, if it could be paid, that'd be good too. Who knew college was so expensive...

He was making the point that it felt like because they have been so successful with crowdfunding campaigns in the past, it would be seen as bad form to continue to use the revenue source for new projects. Like the perception would be "These people already made it and crushed it, why do they still need our money? They've got their own now!"

But I think the market can definitely withstand more of the like from Rooster Teeth, and I trust they'll use the format for the right kind of projects. The makers of Shenmue used crowdfunding as a interest gauge to show their other investors that their was an audience hungry for their product and it was basically a publicity stunt. It's like telling someone you live with that you will make your tacos if they bring some guacamole. They have the idea in their head now and know how to make it happen, which is what the person making tacos wanted. Everyone can have tacos if you supply the guac.

Don't know if I missed a publication or anything but the recent acquisition of Sugar Pine 7 and other partnerships in the lets play family changing (JT Machinima and Creature) is there a statement of their plans or how they will be moving forward as a network and partnerships.

    • guttergrunt96 FIRST Member Star(s) Indication of membership status - One star is a FIRST member, two stars is Double Gold

I think Geoff talked about it on a podcast or panel at rtx. Don't know if this is true word for word but they're going for the "Bedroom feel" for the let's play family, meaning they want each group to feel like just some friends playing games (or making skits) together while RT handles all the merch and business side of it so that the groups can focus on just making content.

I might be wrong but I'm pretty sure I heard this on a podcast or RTX panel.
