did anyone else immediately understand gavin's point about the 50 hour calendar day?? because if it was just me i should probably be concerned.

Nah, I totally understood it to. I just think Gav is bad at explaining things. It's not that he is stupid. It seems like Burnie and Gus (Gus especially) want Gavin to say something stupid so they can point it out.

As someone from Australia, you were just on hotel and public wifi. Internet speeds here are 20mbps, which Burnie said was the speed of his internet. Plus the fiber optic network is coming so it will be 100mbps speeds

We have a Swedish word for He/She. Instead of saying He/She=Han/Hon. We can say "Hen" :P

Some people wanted to use it in daycares because some kids might be unsure about their sex -.- Like a guy might not feel like a guy....

There are a lot of times where Gavin is conceptually right, but the way he words what he's saying is so wrong that it's near impossible to recognize that what he's saying is logical.

I see the point Gavin is making about one date lasting 50 hours (though his math is horrible). Essentially, he means that it was July 13, 20012 on some point of earth for longer than 24 hours, because even if it turns midnight in London and becomes July 14 there it's still July 13 in America for a few more hours.

Basically, Gavin was right until he started involving numbers.

  • Mitheren

Gavin was right, if there are 26 time zones then a date (not a day) does last 50 hours.

Point A is GMT +14, Point B is GMT -12.

Post A starts the date lets says 1st of Jan and then 26 hours later Point B starts the 1st of Jan. The day obviously takes 24 hours to pass so 24 hours after point B started the 1st of Jan it ends. 26 hours + 24 hours = 50.

Wanna know the elevator secret? Hold the close door button until the doors close. Continue holding close door and press and hold the selected floor until you arrive at your floor. Apparently, it works on every elevator.

  • gel_pad

Well technically Gavin was almost right. This is because not all time zones change by an hour some change by 30 minutes or even 15 minutes so you could have like a 71 hour day if you tried. As the day was about to start stand at the line that separates 0 and -1 continue this until you get to -12 (Hawaii) hop across the date line before the day ends then repeat it will take you 71 hours to pass one calendar day this way.

  • zombieperson

Gavin is wrong about the 50 hour day. He is right that single date is theoretically longer than 24 hours, but under the assumption that each time-zone is an hour. That is not the case because a full day is 24 hours in "place a", and then the same day will begin at the exact time that this date ends in "place b" (keeping a 48 date globally but the day it self ends in a specified location). Although he did realize that the date is longer than a day, he did improper math while in full knowledge that all time-zones are not equal in length, but not realizing this fact. In conclusion, Gavin is stupid.
