Pretty good for the first episode! Got a few good laughs out of it. Only criticism I would have is maybe tone the the cheesy sound effects a bit.

The more I watch this, the more I like it. When I first watched the episode, I wasn't a fan of the sound effects and the like, but when I watched it a second time, those same sound effects made me laugh. I think I went into this expecting Funhaus: the cartoon, when it really is just a cartoon made by the cast of Funhaus. Overall I'm very happy with how it turned out

Reminds me a bit of the old Scooby Doo cartoons, with the random sound effects and dialogue made exclusively out of punchlines and snappy comebacks. That style isn't really my cup of tea, but there's definitely potential here. Lawrence sounds like he's really overdoing it, and I think it would've made for a much more interesting character if he just played his usual online persona.

That's just my two cents. A lot of shows have had slow starts, and I hope they're given the time to really figure out what they're going for and to get the animation down before all the shitflingers cause them to get cancelled  butt

Sound effects are cringe, I feel like the roles are over acted a bit (although that could be because im used to how the funhaus guys actually are), animation is good for a pilot, im hoping it gets a bit better but at the same time i'm not complaining. personally i feel like Spunkie Bruester kind of kills it, but again that's just me. I was worried it was going to be too much like metalocalypse but i can notice the differences enough to ease that worry.

Needs a little tweaking but it's by no means a bad animation. Voice acting and animation are great, editing does need a little work. I thought the sound effects were very cringey.
Humour needs to touch home a bit more/pick up pace.
    Will definitely continue watching.

The episode was pretty good. The characters are diverse enough that they are interesting. I got a few genuine laughs out of the dialog, particularly at Adam's character. And while i can see this show doing well, it does have some rough stuff that need to be addressed for future episodes.

The editing needs to be sped up. There were too many times that I felt the pace of the show stopped dead because we had an awkward second (I am assuming to give space to laugh), but it felt like it happened after every joke. Adult animation is usually very face paced and goes from joke to joke a lot. Unless you have multiple plot lines that you can cut between using a transition, you need a lot of quips and jokes to string together to give the show the wacky feeling that it is supposed to have. Think of Archer. They use ad-libbed sounding dialog to make scenes flow better so that you are less aware of the animation and can let it flow like a natural conversation.

Bruce's character (strangely I can't remember his name, even though he said it nearly EVERY TIME he talked) needs to have more natural lines. In fact, the only actors who sounded natural when speaking were Adam and Miles. The characters are interesting, they just need a little work to sound like real people instead of just people obviously reading from a script in a sound booth.

And probably the biggest problem I have with the show is the absolute OVERUSE of sound effects. Just browsing the comments for a couple seconds and I can tell I am not alone in this. Some sound effects can be good and emphasize that this is a cartoon, but they should at LEAST be muted to about 50% volume in editing so they are more subtle. In all honesty, I would limit your use of cartoon sound effects to about 3 or 4 per episode.

But like I said, the episode was good. I would like to see the show grow into itself over time. Even shows like RWBY and RVB didn't get it right out the gate. It takes time for a show to find its rhythm and hopefully all these issues will be addressed over time. Keep up the good work Animation!

My First Ever RT comment so I'll try to make it a good one. I just wanted to weigh in on the community's response to the pilot so far. I'll keep my own opinion out because it doesn't really matter for what I'm trying to say. To address the negative response there are a few fair points made namely that some found their lack of enjoyment was due to high expectations for the show. I think that the people who feel that way need to clarify that they understand that there is nothing Funhaus could have done to prevent that. It's actually impressive that Funhaus crew has been able to meet and exceed fan expectations for so long without any major upsets (whether or not this can be considered one). Some also express that they were disappointed with the quality of the pilot's humor and animation. Again, this is still fair, if you don't like something no one can tell you otherwise. That being said you can still appreciate the pilot for what it is in essence. You have to consider, the fact that Funhaus can produce ANYTHING like this is ridiculously cool. I feel the fans that are still pumped for this series can appreciate the challenge of working on a project like Sex Swing. This as well as other ventures outside of the normal gameplays, like Twits and Crits, makes it clear that Funhaus is dedicated to providing a wide variety of content for all different kinds of audiences. So, now for the Traditional Funhaus Conclusion; Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, If you don't like it, don't watch it, and if you felt you had high expectations try watching the next episode knowing now what to expect and maybe you'll enjoy it better.

Pretty long for my first time, was it good for you?

I tried to enjoy it. It just feels too much like a knock off version of Metalocalypse. Completely disjointed, but not in the good way like Rick and Morty or Adventure Time, more just confused. Hopefully it'll get better but so far... meh.

I hope im wrong, but this for me was the first time Funhaus felt more like AH or some crappy rooster teeth production. Its missing the edge that funhaus usually have, the borderline offensive humor, the cringe worthy moments that define Funhaus.

I wonder what the first draft of James script was, i don't want to believe that this AH-humor cartoon is what James wanted to show the world.

And if this is not the result of rooster teeth calling the shots its a sad day for Funhaus, they have reached their ceiling.

Hope this is not a sign whats to come for Funhaus.

What you want to believe is completely irrelevant. This is what he wrote. It's not a damn Demo Disk, it's a different form of show which requires a different form of writing. It's an homage to old shows like Space Ghost coast to Coast and other Hannah Barabara-esque cartoons.

I understand your point. I also realized this was not posted on the funhaus part of this site, this is a roost teeth thing.

However, i dont know enough about cartoons to appreciate the homage you talk about. But i rather have it be a homage of demo disk than Yogi bear imo =)

As a massive Funhaus fan, i really wanted this pilot episode to be hilarious and enjoyable. Unfortunately, it was neither. The animation was great, and the voice acting was defiantly better than any other funhaus animation videos. but the only thing that didn't make it for me (and it seems a lot of other people) was the humor. i dont think i laughed once during this episode. The jokes just seemed to be off and badly timed. and some of the things that should've been funny, just simply weren't. Don't get me wrong, im still gonna watch every single episode of this short series, and still support The Rooster Teeth team (cause they're all fuckin great) but please, PLEASE LORD let the next episode redeem itself!

granted, this was their first real and independent animation, and Funhaus never do this kinda thing so it's all new to them (voice acting not the actual animation process). So don't worry, i understand why it might have some flaws. i'm just hoping some friendly critique might help smile keep up the great work and TAKE MY MONEY!!

LMAO semi great first episode! Love the fact that James wrote it! but directed by Jordan? interesting  choice I thought it would be someone from Funhaus directing... anyways still it made me laugh here and there but some jokes did fall flat. I love that Tha Schling seems like a dope character like Charlie from It's Always Sunnys so great that catus pizza thing made me chuckle. I hope we get to see more episodes written by Bruce, Adam, and or moar James (imo he's my favourite) So funny!!!! But im curious if the Funhaus crew is gonna direct. PS. I want to see if Peake's got a part!

For a cartoon expanding upon the world of a joke from a Q&A Video that Funhaus made roughly 2 years ago, I think it's more enjoyable than I originally expected. Looking forward to the rest of the season!

I know this is just the first episode and maybe they plan to kind of go back and actually introduce every character. But I have no idea what the hell is going on in the show. I'm a very big fan of Funhaus and watch all of their videos. But this was just too all over the place to be funny. It seemed like every time an idea or joke was put into play it immediately shifted to something else. Basically too many ideas and not enough support for 10 mins. I am going to watch the next few episodes and see how it plays out.

I feel like this will be a great series that had an "Eh.. it's okay" pilot. I wished I laughed more, especially considering James wrote it I was surprised I didn't, but it did start really start grooving and I found myself chuckling a lot when Adam's chess game started. I found it pretty entertaining from that point forward. Or maybe that was just the point where I "got it". I'm not sure. I dig the scooby doo vibe as well as the art style. Awesome that Kel is in the credits for her art on the walls. Sometimes some of the references and old timey talk I didn't follow so it made me fall out of following the plot briefly. I hope future episodes have a bit more flow to the dialogue and I have optimism about what comes next.

Like most of the animated stuff from RT, why is the sound so out of place? i mean it's completely isolated. The scene is that they're in an open house or saloon, but the audio sounds like they're alone and isolated in a sound proof room with no depth. The animation also looks very clunky... Also what is with the sound effects? A lot of room for improvement.

The one thing I hope Funhaus can take from the disappointment in the comments here (If they even read this and/or care) is that we were expecting more from them, simply because they are SO absolutely hilarious. I don't think there's anything terribly wrong with any part of this cartoon. I just think most of us were expecting the same level of comedy and camaraderie we see every day in their content. So we were bummed to not necessarily see that here. Expectations were high. But I guess this kind of thing is a whole different beast from the unscripted riffing we all love. (I also think a lot of the gripes people have could be directed towards the animation team. Editing/pacing/sound/etc. And I think the lack of a raucous title/intro REALLY hurts the overall feel and impact of the episode. I'm curious as to why they decided to skip that.) Regardless, I hope the reception ins't too disheartening. And congrats again on making this happen Funhaus. I don't think most people are taking into consideration just how much work goes into a production like this. It really is an amazing accomplishment. Hoping things improve and tighten up as the series continues.  heart

I feel bad, I love Funhaus and the humor in their videos but the humor here just didn't work for me.  If I was to give some constructive criticism it would be to focus more on the characters.  I think that if the characters can be relatable or more dynamic the show wouldn't feel as flat.  Granted, it's only the first episode so maybe it will get better.

I love Funhaus, but this... this was just a waste of time. The humour, if I may call it that, felt very flat and was incredibly awkward at points, and the whole episode just seemed like it was half-assed. Sorry guys, I know people worked hard on this but it just doesn't work.

That...was not good. Appart from Riper pushing the girl away widen the gold brick was produced, I didn't chuckle once. The acting was wooden, the art style is not attractive, the script was awful and the stock sound effects (especially the plate crash) were not mixed properly and overused.

As a first time effort, I appreciate how difficult it can be to produce an original idea out of a throwaway joke. But X-ray and Vav excelled from the start while this tanked hard. I hope it improves but that's a bad first impression. Sorry, FunHaus.
