I can't help but think parliament is playing chicken. Like at some point they are going to admit they don't actually intend on going through on it. From my understanding (and feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) it's much like how Republicans here campaigned for seven years to repeal and replace Obamacare. It's incredibly obvious that was just a talking point to them and they never planned to go through with it. They couldn't even agree to vote and now Paul Ryan's entire career is in shambles.

It's almost 100 days and trump has failed to fulfill what he said he was going to do.

On the good stuff at least. He's still trying to ban Muslims from the country.

Well, he failed to succeed so far, I'll give you guys that much. Still, credit where credit's due, he did at least try and push stuff along right after he got into office.

And technically SAm, he was using a list of countries the Obama administration marked as threats that were worth restricting travel from.

    Speaking of which,

-Sudan has been in shambles and chalk full of brutal organizations with a bit of bloodlust for a while

-Iran pledged to create nuclear WMDs to wipe Israel off of the face of the earth (they announced a 5-year projection on that pledge after getting their brand-new nuclear reactor)

-Syria has been a mess in recent years, and while Assad may be a brutal asshole, some of the thorns in his side are equally brutal if not more so, and that's not even looking at the entire resurgence in Salafism (which was anti-Western from the start, formed in response to European colonization)

-Somalia is well-known for how impoverished it is, but like the Congo, there's a shit-ton of radical groups out for the conquest of resources.

-Libya lost its last leader 5 years ago and hasn't been able to stabilize since.

-Yemen has been in a state of civil war for 2 years now, and due to its continuous downward economic spiral and uptick in violence, CNN noted that 2015 saw over 28% of Libyans joining terror groups like ISIS and Al Qaeda just to make enough money to scrape by.

Right because that whole 'bring us your impovershed' thing was just a fancy poem on a statue.

Obama meanwhile didn't ban any refugees, immigrants, or green card holders with foriegn sounding names from sixteen countries from entering the USA. He put any immigrants and refugees from said countries through stricter vetting processes. You know, 'extreme' vetting.

Problem is, even with all that, there have been a few individuals who fell through the cracks in the vetting process- just last year, there was an incident where 8 people were let in who bypassed pretty much all the required vetting set for their nations of origin, even though the 2 1/2 year wait for the vetting process to finish already sounds extreme enough.

There's also the issue that we're currently the most indebted country in the world. Our international credit score dropped below a AAA rating for the first time in the history of the US, and within the next 20 years or so, the debt and guaranteed retirement payouts are predicted to add up to $90 Trillion. We simply don't have the resources right now to handle massive amounts of refugees, regardless of the minor potential for terrorism to occur.

Yes you are right. Eight people is a perfectly valid number to label all people from sixteen countries with the same brush and forbid all of them, including refugees running not only from tyrants, terrorists, but also from the bombs we are selves are dropping, from the land of oppurtunity. In addition to any green-card holders with Muslim sounding names. (Mohammed Ali was detained. Twice.)

And it's not like this country was literally built and founded by immigrants.

Also want to know what would fix the debt crisis? Taxes. That's how the government get its money. To pay off debts. Want to know who has the most money in this country? Rich people and corporations. Want to know who the Republicans are making tax hikes for? The poor and middle class. Want to know who's getting the tax cuts? The rich and corporations. Want to know where the money is being sent to? The military.

Well I think everyone needs to take their political bullshit to a place where political bullshit is the topic to be discussed, you all are going to argue for the next couple pages, then get moderated in some form and everyone is going to leave the exact same opinion as before.

Just trying to point out the system doesn't work optimally anyways. Yeah, there's a lot to be improved upon- tax streamlining for more equal revenue, revision of foreign policy, tons of stuff that could take months of extreme deliberation to solve. As it is, all I'm saying is we need to step back and get our shit together first before taking on unnecessary risks, even if it means hurting a few people's feelings and doing something some view as stupid.

If this is going to continue, let's take it somewhere else.

    In reply to Epsilon584

So, has everyone migrated over to the season five thread so I can stop following this one?  Fake notices because of bot posts are almost as annoying as the bot post itself.

I think it's best to think of it as being in some Final Fabtasy setting where a fantasy setting just progressed past our tech.

There is a genre called Science Fantasy

    RWBY clearly falls into that.

The 4 sessions by this loser

Spring, a time of new life and hopes,

beauty blossoms round every corner and the world is at joy,

Summer, a time to relax and join together,

the world builds up and improves and the world is at joy,

Autumn, natural beauty falls from the trees,

the dying begins and yet for some reason the world is at joy,

    Winter, cold and lifeless

all is dead and for some reason the world is at joy.

Humanity watches and takes joy from it

but Autumn has come for them and winter always follows

    no way to stop it

    it's just natural

So train your huntsmen and and build your defences

you can not stop the natural order no matter how hard you try

all the luck in the world might save you

but all you have is a Bad Luck Charm

    The sessions always cycle

    Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter

    life, peace, fall, death
