      Ashley The Know

We're holding an official meet up for The Know and our Know Buddies at RTX! Join us Friday from 6PM to 8PM at Bar 96 on Rainey Street (walking distance from the convention center!) for casual drink and chats. It's right between the last panels for the day and the VIP party so no excuses for not coming to say hello!

If you can't make it we've got panels and signings throughout the event where we'll be giving away fun stuff, and we'll do our best to meet as many people as possible.

    • YouTube Live at E3 with Rooster Teeth!

      Ashley The Know

We're less than 2 weeks away from E3 2017, and you know what that means. Mark your calendars, because once again Rooster Teeth is working with YouTube to bring E3 to you. Get Ready for YOUTUBE LIVE AT E3 WITH ROOSTER TEETH, brought to you by War for the Planet of the Apes!

It's convenient, as comfortable as whatever chair or couch you prefer to lounge in, and it's way cheaper than flights and hotels and passes to the event. Plus, you'll get to see more games and have more access to developers on our stream than you would even on the show floor, and your feet won't hurt at the end of the day!

Instead let @burnie, @gus, @Ryan, @micaburton, @acarboni, and myself do all the hard work while you kick back and enjoy.

      Here's The Plan:

      SATURDAY, JUNE 10
Let's start off nice and easy with a low-key "after hours" style stream for the EA press conference as we gird our loins for the next 5 days. Ahead of the conference we'll go over our predictions and what we hope to see. Then you can shout at us for talking during a trailer you really like for an hour or so. Then we'll discuss everything we learned afterward, get your opinions, and pat ourselves on the back for a solid day of work.
      START TIME: 11:30 AM Pacific / 2:30 PM Eastern / 6:30PM UTC

      SUNDAY, JUNE 11
Today are the Xbox and Bethesda press conferences. We'll kick off early in the afternoon to consult the crystal ball on what Xbox is bringing, settle in to find out with the conference, and then review whether it lived up to expectations. Bethesda isn't until late in the evening so in between we'll play games like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe or Jackbox Party Pack with the community, go over all the trailers we've seen so far, answer questions from the community, and routinely check on the Funhaus drunk stream in case they need a hospital. Then we'll rock through the Bethesda conference and either jump up and down in excitement or moan about how we really wanted Elder Scrolls VI this year but didn't get it. Typical Sunday night, really.
START TIME: 1:30 PM Pacific / 4:30 PM Eastern / 8:30 PM UTC

      MONDAY, JUNE 12
It's groundhog day! Except today it's Ubisoft and PlayStation holding down the fort with their press conferences. We'll kick off a little early to predict how long the Ubisoft conference will go this year and whether we'll see STEEP 2 (!), watch the conference, then grade it out of Assassin's Creeds. Then we'll play games with you guys and eat too loud into a microphone until it's time for PlayStation, which we'll judge for its lack of Shenmue and call it a night. Now the real work begins.
START TIME: 12:30 PM Pacific / 3:30 PM Eastern / 7:30 PM UTC

      TUESDAY, JUNE 13
Oh boy! It's show day! But before it's show day, it's Nintendo time! We'll kick off bright and early to watch the Nintendo Spotlight before diving into our show floor coverage. We've got game demos, interviews with developers and industry luminaries, and appearances by friends of Rooster Teeth all day as we bring the show floor to you.

START TIME: 8:30 AM Pacific / 11:30 AM Eastern / 3:30 PM GMT

      WEDNESDAY, JUNE 14
We're continuing our live show coverage with a full day of the biggest games parading through the show straight to your eyeballs, and in addition to the gameplay we'll also have developers on to tell us more about their games. Plus, we'll be sending one of our hosts onto the show floor to take us on booth tours based on what you tell us you want to see. Also, we may have a birthday party. Possibly.

START TIME: 10:00 AM Pacific / 1:00 PM Eastern / 5:00 PM GMT

      THURSDAY, JUNE 15
Dawn of the final day. We're ending the show on a high note with more video games, guests, booth tours, shenanigans, and probably a lot of coffee. A. LOT. OF. COFFEE. And maybe some lozenges. But mostly coffee. And game demos! And you guys!

START TIME: 10:00 AM Pacific / 1:00 PM Eastern / 5:00 PM GMT

Does any (or all) of that sound like your thing? Great! Here's how you can watch:

We'll be streaming live on youtube.com/roosterteeth and youtube.com/theknow. If you miss any of it, don't panic. You'll be able to watch the full streams on YouTube later, or check out the individual interviews and demos that will be posted to youtube.com/theknow.

We've got some fun new stuff for the stream this year that will make it more interactive so you can guide the content we make and let us know what you think of the games being shown, and we're going bigger this year than we've ever gone before.

We'll have more details and links to the scheduled livestreams coming soon, so keep an eye out. In the meantime, start practicing your cough so you can be sick for a couple days or practice your alt-tab game so you can look productive AND get your E3 stream game on.

    • What's Next for Glitch Please

      Ashley The Know

Today is our final pilot episode of Glitch Please for FIRST members so I wanted to take a minute to thank everyone who's been watching and offering feedback to help us make tweaks, and to share some details about what's next.

First, the thanks. Seriously, you guys are the best and I appreciate the crap out of you. What I love about this pilot process is that we can take a concept we think we like and iterate on that concept with live feedback from you guys. And, episode by episode, it improves and finds its feet like a little show baby we're making together. You've been patient and thoughtful and enthusiastic and that means a lot to me.

For Glitch Please these iterative tweaks are most visible in segments like the News Speedrun. Initially we thought having a time limit on the discussion would keep it fast-paced and keep us from getting off in the weeds, but as that didn't play we tried a couple different ways of structuring it until we've found one that seems to work well for everyone. That same feedback has found its way into all the nooks and crannies of how the show works. And we'll keep making tweaks in the future too.

Now for what's next. We've got the thumbs up to enter full production, so we're working on that next, but you won't have long to wait. We're kicking the show off the first week of June. It will be available for FIRST members on June 2 and public/YouTube on June 3, and we'll have a post-show that remains exclusive to FIRST members (we're still thinking up a name for that--I suggested Secret Level. Gus suggested Level 257 in a nod to Pac Man. Leave suggestions if you've got them!).

When the show returns we'll have a set, logo, and graphics--we're not going crazy with it, but there will be some fun shiny touches--but we'll all still be huge dorks and there's really no putting polish on that one. I'll try to get some sneak peeks to share as we get it all in place.

I've mentioned in some of the pilots that we plan to do a livestream for FIRST members as well. We still plan to do that but it's not going to make it in time for launch. The broadcast studio is pretty hectic right now, between all the current shows and the projects in active development. As a result we don't always have one set day and time to record this show, and without that consistency it doesn't feel right to ask you guys to constantly be shifting your schedules to try to catch it live. Once we do get a consistent studio time, we'll kick off the streaming so we can bring in your reactions and feedback live, which is an element I really love. I'm bummed we're not launching with it, but on the bright side it means we can celebrate all over again when it starts.

ALSO, join the official Glitch Please group! This is where I've been getting prompts for some of the games, suggestions for guests, mailbag details, etc. and it's where I'd like to collect any art from the community to feature on the show or post-show and do check-ins.

We're going to try out a mailbag segment on the next pilot ep of Glitch Please! If you have a video game related question you'd like us to answer on the show, or a long love letter about Gus and his nudity, or anything like that please shoot us an email! (You can reply here too, but we'd really like to test the email capabilities and see how that works out too). Email address is: glitchplease at roosterteeth dot com

If we don't answer your question on the show it doesn't mean we don't like you. We do! It might just take us time to figure out what types of questions/comments/etc. work best in our format, and if we get a bunch we might not be able to get to them all in the time we have!

Next week we're going to try a new segment that's kind of goofy called Pitch a Game. We're going to randomly select a couple elements and each try pitching game ideas that includes those elements.

If you want to throw in an element try:

      * A Character (or more general character trope)

      * Setting and/or time period

      * Random plot element

      * Villain

    • Welcome to Glitch Please

      Ashley The Know

At the end of last year we decided to sunset our gaming podcast, The Patch. It wasn't an easy decision because it's a podcast Rooster Teeth has been doing for years and we all enjoyed the opportunity to sit down and nerd out about games on a weekly basis, but it had become increasingly clear to us that it had lost its way a bit.

To some degree, that was difficult because when it started the premise was pretty simple: everyone says we talk about game on the RT Podcast too much so let's make a podcast just to talk about games. From there it kind of took on a life of its own and evolved, but was always pretty freeform. While that meant we could do what we wanted with it for the most part, it also meant there wasn't a structure to keep it consistent and it meandered into three or four different formats over the nearly 200 episodes of its run.

That's not great for a show or its audience. So we decided to make the hard call and start over.

And that's how Glitch Please was born. We want to take the best of The Patch but fit it into a structure that's more stable and consistent in how it operates. And also, if I'm being 100% honest, I would kill every show in the world if it meant it would come back with a set designed by Marcus LaPorte.

      sTgkvDO.png

Glitch Please should look familiar in a lot of ways. @gus, @Ryan, and myself will still be talking about games every week. This first episode is just us because we're still tightening up the details, but we'll have guests from Rooster Teeth and beyond as well.

What's changed is that we're thinking of our conversation in terms of segments and topics that fit together. Some of the segments will cycle from week to week, but this way it's planned out in advance and we won't fall into the gravity well of any one thing *cough*VR*cough* for months at a time. Or, even if we do discuss it pretty frequently, it won't be the ONLY thing we have time for... and we'll have timestamps so you can skip it.

Oh, and we're killing the hour time limit in favor of discussing things as long as we feel they need to be discussed. That might mean we have some long episodes around e3, and some short ones around game droughts, and hopefully you guys are cool with that variance because we think it will be better for the content.

This is still the pilot phase. It's all subject to change if some of our theories don't pan out, so stick with us. We want your feedback to see what's working, what can be further improved, what you'd like to see... basically, everything. We want to make a show that we love to do and that you love to watch.

Comments on individual episodes is awesome, but so is show-wide feedback. To facilitate that I've created a new group here on the site to collect thoughts, ideas, comments/questions for a mailbag, fan art we can show off, and as many nudes of Gus as the internet can handle.

    • Neko Atsume Movie Gets a Trailer

      Ashley The Know

Neko Atsume has been a mobile gaming phenomenon... if you choose to classify it as a proper game, that is. It launched in 2014 and grew to such rousing heights that it even got the stamp of approval from @gus Sorola. So what's a successful game about feeding stray cats to do? Become a movie, of course!

Since that's kind of a thin premise for a film (not that it's stopping the emoji movie), the movie's narrative will focus on a depressed writer suffering writer's block, who becomes even more depressed when cats won't stick around... until he leaves food out for them.

In case you're still wondering how this will bear up in cinematic form, there's now a teaser trailer!

In the sequel a concerned neighbor probably comes by and finds a dead writer who's been gnawed on by a bunch of cats. Then it becomes a murder mystery about pigeons, because why not? It worked for Hatoful Boyfriend.

    • Amazon Greenlights Series Based on Good Omens

      Ashley The Know

Fans of Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett will be familiar with their collaborative novel, Good Omens, based on the premise: What if an infant Anti-christ got switched with a normal kid?

The book was published in 1990 by the two authors and features the antics of the angel Aziraphale and the demon Crowley, who've grown comfortable and don't really want the world to end, as well as the Four Horsepersons of the Apocalypse. Toss in a son of Satan who's growing up with the wrong family, in the wrong village, his best friends, and an ability to reshape reality based, and you're in for a lot of good fun.

      dYkhfCb.png

Amazon agrees, and has greenlit a series of six episodes based on the work for release in 2018. Gaiman adapted the book for the screen and will serve as showrunner on the project. Of the series, he said:

"Almost 30 years ago, Terry Pratchett and I wrote the funniest novel we could about the end of the world, populated with angels and demons… Three decades later, it’s going to make it to the screen. I can’t think of anyone we’d rather make it with than BBC Studios, and I just wish Sir Terry were alive to see it."

Terry Pratchett, co-author on the original novel, passed away in 2015 following a battle with Alzheimer's disease.

The show is being co-produced with Narrativia, the production company founded in 2012 by Pratchett with his daughter, Rhianna Pratchett, who recently announced she was stepping away from writing on the Tomb Raider videogame franchise.

      avKqTP3.jpg

Previous attempts at adapting Good Omens for the screen have been made. Notably, Terry Gilliam was working on a movie in 2002, with Johnny Depp and Robin Williams rumored to be attached for the roles of Crowley and Aziraphale, respectively, but it stalled in the funding phase.

On Thursday, Nintendo will officially reveal (again? more?) the Nintendo Switch. The company is expected to share the new console's tech specs, launch lineup of games, price, date(s), and other details during the event.

So, what do you say we take this relationship to the next level and watch the event together?

The Know/Rooster Teeth will livestream Nintendo's broadcast along with our own commentary, highlighting comments from the community (use #knowswitch on Twitter!), and probably drinking. While i was listening to the patch, i was browsing the interwebs and i found this website, it's a game currently in development strt.cc/?r=eWF2aW43MTFAaG90bWFpbC5jb2
its called the universe project, it has just completed phase 1 of 2(?) and i think you should check it out and maybe show it to Gus (Happy birthday) and talk about on the patch, it looks very interesting, apparently they are going to use DOGE COINS, (just like bitcoin) where you pay to make a character but can also mine the coins in space to get more coins, (profit?) hopefully this isn't a relative of peter molyneux. this is a game that has the same code as the next game that they are making where you are on a planet instead, i suggest you check it out. I think if this game does it right (slim chances on that) then it could be very popular. I'm not sure what to think of this game, hopefully you and the patch can say what you think about it. thank you for taking your time to read this really long comment (sorry).

Just finished listening to The Patch 29 and found a lot of the hardware discussion about PCs a bit lacking. In particular, the points about Nvidia's new features on their products had been announced long ago on 18 October (http://anandtech.com/show/7432/nvidia-montreal-event-live-blog). I would have been quite interested in the function that you mentioned that just went into beta (GRID, which is like OnLive) to see the American perspective (I'm in Australia where internet is not always a given). What wasn't mentioned at all was G-Sync which is pretty important and I think Ryan could have given some insight/commentary on it for the rest of the RT audience. It is hard to comment on PC gaming hardware without closely following graphics cards since that is usually the most important part.

Having said all that, I am not as much of a console gamer at all and do enjoy the perspective of those who are.

Thanks and keep up the good work :)

Just listened to the latest Patch and I had the same problem with my Wii U gamepad's battery life, it'll last about 2.5 hours. Nyko makes a screw on additional battery that is amazing. With the Wii U battery plus the Nyko battery I get about 7.5 hours of game play before having to stop and recharge. Thought I'd share.

You're missing out they are amazing. Most of the later books will get you emotionally involved. I don't want to read his newest one because i know it will be the end of the series.

Read it! Great book. I haven't gotten much farther in the series though.

Ashley! Where did you get that "Make it Rain" Zelda shirt? It's such a funny shirt! I get so envious whenever I see you wearing it in the RT news! Could you please let me know where you bought it?

A lady friend of mine happened to come across me watching one of your newsy type videos, and she stuck around to check it out.

She's not a gamer. Thinks games are a waste of time(that might sound like an exaggeration of her opinion, but you get the idea).

Still, she watched the entirety of the video, and at the end said that she was captivated by your presentation, the way you went over the news, and she loves your look and voice.

To the point that she'll apparently continue watching your videos, even though she'll have no idea what you're talking about. :P

What that means is you're doing an absolutely fantastic job with just the WAY you give us information, so much so that at least one non-gamer is up for watching your videos.

You now have an excuse to have a happy dance. And a smile. A self-given pat on the back. Dusting off a shoulder, potentially. Bragging rights. A delicious glass of juice(okay that doesn't really fit but I love juice, give me a break).

Keep on doing what you do, you're doing it at an A+ level!

I know you are not a member of Team RWBY, but I was hoping you could convince some of the other members to read the ideas I posted on their comments page. Thank you for your time "bows"

I would like to say that the short news segment you do is the best one out of all the ones I have seen on other you-tube networks (Escapist,IGN,Node). I would also like to say I am slightly miffed you signed up to the website 7 days before me, :P Keep up the great work.

I have actually made posts on all the comment pages of most of the other staff members of rooster teeth. I would really appreciate it if you could convince them to give my post a look. I feel like it would be an excellent addition to RWBY. And again thank you for paying attention to this mere mortal. ( p.s. I put my email address in all the comments so they can email their thoughts to me if they want) I also check them EVERY SINGLE DAY,
