    • Finally! The Deadman has come back to AH/RT!!!

Jesus, has it really been that long since I was last babbling on about shit here? Yep, sure has! Well, it's been a very busy couple of months.

The good news is that Hayley's brother has made a fantastic recovery and is due back at work soon. Considering what happened to his aorta, it's nothing short of a miracle. Plus I got to meet him at last, and he's a nice bloke.

The bad news is that Hayley herself has been struggling a bit. She wasn't herself for several weeks afterwards, which made things hard for us. Thankfully now, she's back to her awesome self and we sorta celebrated with a night away in a town called Daylesford last week.

My nephew Liam has been diagnosed with Asperger's. He's still the same crazy ass 9 year old, we all love, but now we know why he's been having trouble with some things, and why he's so obsessed with cars!!! Still, Dan Ackroyd has Asperger's, and look at what he created.

I turned 38. It wasn't a bad day. I got spoiled by my family and Hayley. She got me some brand new Converse All Star II's which I love. Got  a couple of movies from my sister and Liam, and a new HDD from my parents. I also got an e-mail from my biological dad! Yeah, the father I haven't talked to in years. Well, to cut a long story short, I e-mailed him back, and we are talking again. So I have my great aunt, my cousin and my dad back now. (My cousin has actually challenged me to a race on Forza Motorsport 7, the fool!)

Valentine's was nice too. Me and Hayley spoiled each other again. She managed somehow, to get me a copy of F1 2017, which for some reason became quite rare on Xbox One in Australia! I got her the full version of Horizon Zero Dawn, which is a game that we both wanted to have a go at. She's also been having a bash at Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris, and she's got further than me!

Speaking of Lara Croft, we saw the new Tomb Raider and we both loved it. And Hayley is a BIG fan of Ms Croft, so she would have been it's biggest critic! We saw Insidious:The Last Key recently too. I liked it, but the evening was spoiled by some dickheads sitting behind us! Jumanji:Welcome to the Jungle was awesome too.

I've started listening to some podcasts on my iPad. I've started with a couple of true crime podcasts, as that is something I'm interested in, which are called True Crime Garage and Casefile. I've also added the Pitlane Podcast which is run by a few of the F1 game YouTubers, The Ross Report, which is the legendary Jim Ross' show about pro-wrestling, and The Jim Cornette experience, which is another about wrestling. I'm hooked, big time.

So that's been a funny couple of months. 2018 certainly had a strange sense of humour to start with! Up to the Lunar New Year, it was a bit stressful. thankfully now, it appears to be settling down a bit. Hope that trend continues.

Soooooo, 2018 has been a little rough so far. I've had a bit of food poisoning, courtesy of Subway, and Hayley's family had a rough week or so as her elder brother nearly died of a heart attack. However, he is on the mend thankfully.

So I got to thinking about what makes me laugh, and I mean really laugh, not just a slight chuckle. I have to admit, I had a good laugh thinking about it!

      Duck Amuck

      Robin Hood Daffy

Bugs Bunny's dance in Ali Baba Bunny

      My girlfriend

      My nephew

      Mick Foley

And that's only the tip of the iceberg I would think. It certainly made me feel better thinking about it. So it is true what they say........

    • So that was 2017.......

And boy am I glad it's gone. 2017 was not an easy year for me or those close to me, but there were some highlights, mainly in the media side of things. Movie wise, there was some excellent stuff, new and old......

Transformers:The Last Knight - I loved it, was great to see Optimus Prime kick ass again.

Kong:Skull Island - This was great fun, great effects and a fun story

Resident Evil:The Final Chapter - This wasn't so great. I was hoping it would be better, but sadly, no.

Cars 3 - This was great, and a nice way to round out the trilogy.

Insidious - I enjoyed this at Hayley's. She has the first three and the new one's out soon, so I have some catching up to do.

Alien:Covenant - This wasn't bad at all. Not as good as Aliens, but solid.

Star Wars:The Last Jedi - You really have to ask?????

Jumanji:Welcome to the Jungle - I've never seen the original, but this was awesome!

Beauty and the Beast - Surprisingly, I'm a fan of the animated movie, and this was just as good if not better. Another funny thing was that I enjoyed it, but Hayley didn't!

Murder on the Orient Express - I loved this. I love a murder mystery, and it didn't disappoint.

Pirates of the Carribean:Dead Men Tell No Tales - I love the Pirates series and this was a good one.

The Mummy - Not that great really.

Life - This is surprisingly good. Check it out if you can.

The Great Wall - This was really good.

Up! - Never saw this before NYE, but I'm certainly glad I did now.

      Game wise......

Forza Motorsport 7 - Despite it's teething troubles, this is a solid addition to the series

Resident Evil:Biohazard - This is one of only two games that made me jump out of my skin.

Defense Grid 2 - Not bad at all.

DiRT Rally - Simply the best.

      DiRT4 - See above.

F1 2016 - I was a late comer to the party, and although I need to play it more, its the best F1 game I've had in years....and I've played a few!

Giana Sisters Twisted Dreams - Cool stuff.

Gone Home - This was surprisingly good.

The Turing Test - Like it's predecessor; Pneuma:Breath of Life, this was fun and I enjoyed it.

Guns, Gore and Cannoli - Both myself and Hayley has a blast playing this.

Halo Wars 2 - Great stuff and worth the wait.

Mark McMorris Infinite Air - I got this for Hayley for Xmas, and it's not bad.

Monster Jam:Crush It! - I like Monster trucks, so sue me!

Need for Speed:Payback - Great stuff.

Sonic Mania - As good as it looked in the trailers!

Mortal Kombat X - I hadn't played a Mortal Kombat game in over 20 years before this year. I'm glad I played this one as it I can get on with this one, unlike the originals.

      Tekken 7 - It's Tekken! Enough said!

WWE 2K18 - I think that this is definitely on par with 2K17, if not slightly better.

Transformers:Fall of Cybertron - I recently downloaded the remastered edition and I have had so much fun playing this again.

Project Cars 2 - I played the original earlier this year, and this one definitely has improved on the original.

Low lights - My struggle to find the job I trained for, the fact I found a job and then they dropped me after five days because I wasn't experienced enough, when I specifically told them I had no experience in the job, my breakup with Hayley, Feelings of hopelessness,

Highlights - My reconciliation with Hayley in September, getting my first pair of Converse sneakers for my birthday. Not much else really.

2017 was apparently year of the rooster, which stands for confrontation amongst other things. 2018 is year of the dog, which stands for stability, which is something I need in my life.

So here's to 2018, may it be a cracker!

Well, here we are, Christmas time again. Everyone all set? Say what? Oh come on, man, you've had several weeks!!!!!

Anyway, I'm all set. I spent a very nice Xmas Eve with my girlfriend, who is unfortunately feeling a bit unwell at the moment. She loved her present, which was a Pop Vinyl of Kitana from Mortal Kombat, a Rock Candy figure of Lara Croft and Mark McMorris Infinite Air, as she likes snowboard games. She got me WWE 2K18. Oh hell yeah!

My nephew is gonna get spoiled.....again!!! Heh, he's a good kid really.

Who's been watching their Xmas movies? I've been on the Muppet Christmas Carol and Die Hard. Watching a little NCIS now to wind down.

It's been a funny ol' year. More ups and downs than a rollercoaster.  Although the downs have really, REALLY sucked! To put it mildly, I have really hated a lot of this year. 2017 has been difficult, so I won't be sorry to see the back of it. Roll on 2018!

So everyone have a Happy Xmas and Great New Year! I'm sure gonna have one!!!!

With all the crap that's been flying around with media, games, movies etc recently, I thought I'd have my five cents on a few things!

Cuphead: Hayley got this one recently on her X-Box as we both wanted to try it. This is a freaky looking game as 30's animation is pretty creepy. However it's a very good game, and I love the fact that you can play it with two people as well in co-op. Just one thing.......WHY IS IT SO FUCKING HARD????? I don't really understand why it is so difficult. Couldn't they have put in a few different difficulty setting instead of just the really hard one??? Sheesh!!

F1: Well, Ferrari really ballsed that one up!! Lead the championship earlier in the season, then pretty much gift wrapped the championships for Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes. And don't get me started on Red Bull's attitude. I have a bad feeling that Daniel Ricciardio is gonna get screwed in favour of that spoiled brat Max Verstappen, whom I have lost A LOT of respect for over his recent behaviour. Hmph, roll on 2018.

      Donald Trump: Vegetable.

Brexit: I am SO glad that I no longer live in the UK! I'm just sick of hearing about it here in Melbourne!

      X-Box One X: WANT ONE!!!!

      PS4 Pro: See above!

Thor Ragnarok: This looks good. I'm definitely gonna see this. I missed the last one in the cinema, so I won't miss this.

Forza Motorsport 7: I don't care what people are moaning about. What they fail to remember is that Forza 4 started off a little shaky, and went on to become one of, if not the best of the series. This has potential to be even better. And I don't know why people are bitching about the prize boxes, as they are bought with IN GAME currency, not real currency! And while we're on the subject.....

Microtransactions: I don't like them if they are purchased with real currency. If they are bought with in game money, then I don't see what the problem is. But if they are PTW like the Battlefront 2 ones are rumoured to be, then that is where the problem lies!

NCIS: NOOOOOOO, Abby is leaving!! Say it's not happening!!!

WWE: Just when it looked like they were started to gain momentum, they fucked up again!!!!!

Impact: Are they out of money? Who knows? But I think that they could have treated Jeff Jarrett a little better.

Xmas: Well, it's not far off again, and the torture that is the build up begins all over. I hate the build up. I like Xmas Day itself, but the build up really pisses me off. The shopping, the preparations, it drives me crazy. I know, I sound like an old Scrooge, but it is a major pain.

Gran Turismo Sport: I'd love to try this, the only thing is I seriously hope that they have more content lined up for it soon.

Well, that's all my griping done.

It's been a funny week or so. The big kerfuffle at the US Grand Prix with the penalty issue, the ever changing weather in Melbourne, Then my best mate becomes a dad again!

Yep, my mate and his wife have had a healthy baby boy and all are doing very well. It's great as they were unsure a few years back if they could have kids together (My mate has a daughter from a previous relationship.) So the fact that the happy event has come is pretty fantastic.

Then, on top of that, my 8 year old nephew, Liam, has decided that he wants to move up from tablet to console. He's been playing on my Playstation 2 this week, playing Gran Turismo 4, and getting pretty good at it. In fact, he even wants to try Forza, he's racing game mad, like myself.

Other than that, its same old, same old in Australia.

I'm a WWE fan, in case you hadn't worked it out already. But I haven't been very fond of the tv product for a little while, although it is showing some good signs lately, and one of those signs is a new recruit to Smackdown: A guy I've been watching for a while now: Bobby Roode.

Now, I was really happy to see A J Styles enter WWE last year, as I've always rated him, but Roode was another guy who I thought would be good there, as TNA/GFW/Whatever the fuck they're called now, has it's own problems to sort out at the moment.

He's been around for a while now, a twenty year veteran, but he's as sharp as ever. I kinda hoped his former tag partner James Storm would be around too, but he decided to go back.Either way, he's definitely over with the fans and I reckon should get a title run before long.

      <iframe width="854" height="480" src="

      " frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

In other GLORIOUS news, (See Roode's entrance and you'll get that one!) Hayley and I have reunited. We have talked about a lot of things since she got in contact with me, we even met up where we first met last year as a sort of second first date. She realised that she was wrong with a lot of things, as did I. She also said that she missed me so much, she would wake up crying. In my own way, I reckon I missed her too, but I didn't realise it until we saw each other again.

Either way, I think that we've got through this. We hit a sticky patch a few months back and it caused a breakup, to which we have now recovered and we have gotten stronger from it.

In my absence, she has acquired a PS4! Heh, she always said she was a Playstation girl!

Oh yeah, to anyone who might use EB Games in Australia, or anywhere else, don't bother. They suck shit.

I preordered Forza Motorsport 7 Ultimate Edition several weeks back. It's supposed to be released tomorrow, September 29th. But they won't get it to me until next week, by which time, the early access for the game will be over, and the standard and deluxe editions will be out. I feel that I've been shafted. I mean, what's the point in me preordering this to get it for the 29th, if they have no intention of shipping it to me for that date? Fucking useless!

      Anyway, that's been my world.

Ok, so I'm minding my own business at home, watching a bit of Netflix whilst I'm waiting for the dinner to finish cooking, and I gets me a call on my phone. It's not a number I recognise, but as I'm waiting on several job applications, I answer it, hoping it's good news. But errr.........

You won't believe who it is!!!!!!

It's my ex!!!!!!! What the fuck???

She's calling me on the phone at work (She's a medical receptionist.) and her first words to me are " Hi Philly!" in a very cheerful tone!!!

      What? What? What? What?

It's been over two months and she picks now to call me? And acts like there's nothing wrong? DID I MISS SOMETHING HERE?????????

So she says that it's good to hear my voice again and that she's missed me, and didn't know why I'd blocked her number. That I DO know! I blocked her number because of the abusive texts she sent me during the breakup!

So she asked me if she could call me back later, and like a dumbass I said ok. But it seems like she wants to start again. What should I do? I don't know. I've missed her, but then I've also remembered what she can be like especially at the end.

      Thoughts, ladies and gents?

    • A DiRTy Game.

Now everyone has their favourite game series. My nephew has Real Racing. My best mate has Bioshock and Fallout.

Now those of you who know me will know that mine are Halo, Gears of War, Crysis, Forza Motorsport and WWE. But there is one more, that is very special to me. DiRT.

I have a lot of motorsport heroes, Nigel Mansell, Damon Hill, Ayrton Senna and Jenson Button are just a few. But this series involves a hero of mine called Colin McRae.

Colin McRae was a rally driver who started his career in the early 1990s. His father Jimmy and brother Alistair were also rally drivers, and all three won titles around the British Isles. But Colin went even further and became the first British driver to win the World Rally Championship in 1995.

He was spectacular to watch with his pedal to the metal, all or nothing style. so when Codemasters, who make some of the best racers today, announced that they were making a Rally game endorsed by the man himself for the PS1, I was immediately interested. Colin McRae Rally was released in 1998, and I got to play it in a Virgin Megastore, as they were having a contest for its release. I set the fourth fastest time of the day, but it was so much fun, I wasn't really bothered by that.

I finally got the game that Christmas, and I played it to death. Throwing that Subaru World Rally Car into the turns and sliding around was great, and in my estimation, was the best rally game ever at the time.

So you can imagine, when the sequel, Colin McRae Rally 2 was announced, I was more than willing to get it. And I wasn't disappointed. New cars and new modes, it improved on the original in many ways.

The third and fourth games came out for PS2 later on. As good as they were, they would be surpassed by Colin McRae Rally 2005, which even my mates, who mostly weren't rallying fans like me, enjoyed playing too. One of my memories is my mate Mike taking a Peugeot 205 Group B car round a stage and losing all his tyres and finishing the stage on four rims!! I had a great time with it. You could even rally a Ford Transit Supervan!!

With the release of the X-Box 360 and the PS3, the series received a makeover. As well as rallying, the new game would incorporate Rallycross, Hillclimb and other off road racing such as buggies and trucks. The new look would bring a new name for the series: Colin McRae: DiRT.

I actually didn't own this game until a couple of years ago, as I was playing a lot of other stuff at the time, but it was an instant classic, as the new off road disciplines added a new depth to the gameplay. Stadium trucks, Dakar trucks, buggies, hillclimb cars and trucks, and Rallycross cars along with the different classes of rally cars which had been a staple of the series, made this a must play.

But then, a couple of years later, tragedy struck. Colin McRae sadly died in a helicopter crash in September 2007. It was a terrible blow, as another British rallying hero, Richard Burns, also a WRC champion, had died a few years earlier. For me, another of my racing heroes was gone.

However, at the time, Codemasters were working on a sequel to DiRT, enlisting Ken Block and other X-Games personalities to appear alongside the man himself. Sadly, McRae's death changed those plans. Ken Block became the new face of the series, but the game retained the Colin McRae name as a tribute. Colin McRae DiRT 2 was released in 2009 and was a fantastic game to play. More new disciplines and cars, and the new personalities made it a fun game, but Codemasters also made it their tribute and thank you to the man who helped start it.

By 2011, DiRT 3 was on the way. It would be the first game to not feature McRae's name in the title, but to everyone, it was still the Colin McRae series. The introduction of Gymkhana, which is fast paced stunt driving, was a fun if challenging addition. DiRT 3 is in my top four games of the series, as I just couldn't put it down.

A year or so later, the series had it's first spinoff, DiRT: Showdown. This was very different to the other games as there was no rallying present. In fact, the only link to any of the other games was the inclusion of Gymkhana. It was mainly off road style racing with banger style cars, demolition derbys, and a lot of goofy style stuff. While I had my initial doubts about it, it turned out to be great fun.

The series went on hiatus for a few years after that. As fun as Showdown was, many thought that the series needed to be about rallying, not hooning. So you can imagine when I heard that a new game, simply called DiRT Rally, was out on Steam on early access, I was eagerly anticipating it's full release on console. (I don't have a decent gaming PC yet.) That day came in May 2016.

The game was a return to the series rallying roots. Out went Gymkhana, land rush and other off road racing, in came pure rallying, hill climb and the FIA World Rallycross championship. The handling was also tweaked, to give it more of a simulator feel. In short, this game is tough, but it's tough in a very fun way. I finally got it for my last birthday from my parents. I watched some of the gameplay videos on Youtube by guys like Kurt J Mac, Tiermetmarduk and Conedodger, and it looked pretty easy. Oh boy, was I wrong!!! But I didn't care, and still don't. It's a fantastic addition to the series, and I love it. But there was more to come.

I'd heard about DiRT 4 a few months back, but due to the fact that money is a bit tight, and I still Had DiRT Rally to play, I thought "Sounds good to me, but I'll wait." So you can imagine my surprise when my girlfriend at the time bought me a present for our first anniversary: DiRT4!

This one brings back buggies, trophy trucks and some aspects of Gymkhana, but still manages to concentrate a lot on rallying. You can even choose between gamer or simulation handling. The best part is that you can build your own team, which builds on the team concept from DiRT Rally. I've been having a great time playing this, and I've barely scratched the surface.

This series is one of my absolute favourites. I love playing it and I love the fact that they have kept the McRae name in through the inclusion of cars, championships and liveries. Would the man himself approve? I think so. The series hasn't missed a step. I still own all of the titles, except the first Colin McRae Rally, Colin McRae 2003 and 2004. I hope one day that I can find some replacements for them. My overall favourites in the series are Colin McRae Rally 2, DiRT 3. DiRT Rally and DiRT 4. But all the games have been great fun and as far as I'm concerned, are a fitting tribute to one of the greatest racing heroes of all time.

      'Til All Are One.

I got the date of Colin McRae's passing wrong, so I have now updated this journal with the correct date.
