      Salutations, Wanderers!

Unless you’ve been living in a briar patch for the last hundred years, you’re probably aware that Nomad of Nowhere is back! That’s right, for the next six weeks we’ll be airing the last six episodes of season one. Episodes will release every Friday on Rooster Teeth for FIRST members, right at 8AM Central (same time slot Camp Camp occupied the past 12 weeks). The week after that, the episode will be free for all to watch on the site and mobile apps as well. You have our mobile app right? If not, get ithere for iOS and here for Android and get to watching.

So that’s seven days for Rooster Teeth FIRST, then free on the site for everyone. Got it? Awesome.

We hope you’re excited for the rest of season one; it will be quite a wild ride filled with twists, turns, plus lots of heart and EMOTIONS. Without giving away too much, it’s going to be really cool. Thanks for all your support (and patience) for the show! You’re the best bunch o’ dunderheads a crew could ever ask for.

      Hey there, campers!

In case you've been living under a rock, we recently announced that Camp Camp season 3 is premiering May 25th! That's like, nine days from now! This season of Camp Camp is shaping up to be the most exciting and crazy season yet: Campbell's in jail, the counselors are struggling to keep the place afloat, and all the while the campers continue to wreak havoc at Camp Campbell.

And if you want to keep up with all the antics this season has to offer, listen up! This season, Camp Camp episodes will be free to the public on the Rooster Teeth site and mobile apps one week after they go up for FIRST members, same as last year. However, they will not be uploaded to YouTube right away. This is because we're really working hard to make our site and mobile apps the best place to watch RT shows and be part of the RT community. And now more than ever, with the craziness around other online video platforms, viewing Camp Camp on Rooster Teeth supports us more than ever before. If you'd like me to put it in simple words: IF YOU WANT CAMP CAMP TO SUCCEED, PLEASE WATCH IT ON ROOSTER TEETH.

Otherwise you're going to miss out on the awesome episodes we have in store, like the TWO

22-minute long episodes in season 3! OH GOLLY.

So that's pretty cool! And since we like doing cool things, and everyone in our community is cool, we're also putting together a MASSIVE Camp Camp sing-along video, and we need your submissions! All you need to do is record a video of you or a group of friends singing the Camp Camp Theme Song, and then submit it RIGHT HERE. All we ask is that you do not include any background music in your video. The deadline to submit is May 21st at 10am Central. After that, we'll release our giant collaboration for everyone to see! It's going to be awesome, so get those submissions in!

Until then, keep looking forward to the premiere of Camp Camp season 3. See ya then, campers!

    • Nomad Mid-Season & Camp Camp Season 3?!

      Jordan Campe Diem

Hey peoples! Just popping my head up from the approximately 1,345,433,850 projects going on to give you a quick update on Nomad of Nowhere's release schedule!

So Nomad season one is twelve episodes in total, and this upcoming Friday is episode six -- what we are calling our mid-season finale. After this week, Nomad will go dark for a little while, to return later in the summer with the back half of the season. This week's episode is a natural end to our first arc of the season, and you'll be getting some cool development and backstory on some things that raise the stakes.

In the meantime, you've got Camp Camp! A few months ago, Gray teased the fact we were working on a Blu-ray combo pack of Camp Camp seasons 1 & 2. Well, I've got an update for everyone about that: He wasn't lying! The Blu-ray exists and it goes on sale Tuesday, May 22nd! If you're looking to check out Camp Camp or catch-up on past episodes, the combo pack is a damn good option, as season 3 looms near.

Oh, and speaking of Camp Camp season 3, I have been granted SPECIAL POWERS by the marketing department that allow me to announce that Camp Camp season 3 will premiere on Rooster Teeth FIRST FRIDAY, MAY 25TH! HOT DAMN THAT'S SOON. We're all excited to be heading back to Camp Campbell this summer for some camp-tastic camp-ventures, and we hope you are too.

      So to recap:

      • Nomad episode 6 is the mid-season finale (airing Friday, April 20th on FIRST)
      • Nomad will return later this summer
      • Camp Camp seasons 1&2 Blu-ray combo pack May 22nd
      • Camp Camp season 3 premieres May 25th

      Hell yeah  sunglasses

    • Our New 2D Show -- Nomad of Nowhere!

      Jordan Campe Diem

      Hey everyone, exciting news!

Today we announced a new show coming to Rooster Teeth Animation, a 2D show called Nomad of Nowhere. Whenever we choose to make a new show, we try to make it something fresh and different from things we've done in the past, and Nomad is no exception. It's a western/fantasy mash-up about a mysterious nomad traversing a western wasteland that hasn't seen magic in 100 years. But now there's a price on his head, and he's gonna have to avoid bounty hunters and captors who all want to score big when they bring in the world's last magical being. Think of it as two-parts Samurai Jack and True Grit with just a dash of The Lord of the Rings.

There's something for everyone in Nomad of Nowhere; we'll be telling an epic tale filled with fun new characters, with plenty of humor and light-hearted moments to go alongside it. We've developed a beautiful art style to showcase the unique setting of Nowhere: an unforgiving and harsh landscape home to fantastic creatures and a diverse cast of characters. And of course, our kickass animation team is going to make it the best looking 2D show you'll ever see. Needless to say, I'm excited for everyone to see it.

So who is the mysterious Nomad? You'll have to wait and see. We'll be teasing more details as we get closer to the release in the spring. Until then, get hyped for a new RT Animation show! Thanks y'all!

    • Seven Years Later...

      Jordan Campe Diem

It's hard to believe, but seven years ago today, the first ever RTAA (then called "Drunk Tank Animated Adventures") was posted on my YouTube channel. At the time, I was just hoping I could learn animation and maybe gather a following for my own projects down the road. I had no idea that video was going to catapult me into a career at Rooster Teeth, and the years that have followed have been the best, busiest, craziest years of my life.

But now, seven years and 287 episodes later, it's time for the next generation of up-and-coming animators here at RT to take over. We announced this at the RTAA panel at RTX, but in case you missed it, I'm handing directorial duties on RTAA over to two of our 2D animators, Jordan Battle and Andrew Lhotsky. These guys are some of our best animators, and you've seen their work in Camp Camp, Sex Swing, and previous RTAAs (Battle even worked on X-Ray & Vav). Now the job falls to them to identify stories, edit audio, and come up with and animate the jokes and goofs you see every week in RTAA. Trust me when I say there are no two people at Rooster Teeth better equipped to handle this.

I'm writing this now because this week's episode, Mugged Miles, is the last episode of RTAA directed by me. I didn't want to make a fuss about it, but when I saw it was coming out on RTAA's anniversary, I couldn't help but take a minute to acknowledge the neat and tidy circle we'd managed to make there.

Rest assured this move is for the best. As other duties have taken priority (writing, directing Camp Camp and future projects we haven't even mentioned yet), RTAA was forced to play second fiddle for me. So don't get it confused: this will make the show better. RTAA was not always getting the attention and focus it deserved, but now it definitely will. And honestly, it will probably be even better, because Andrew and Jordan are a lot funnier than me and a lot better at animating.

Ever since the 2D animation department was just me messing around in Flash every day, I dreamed of working on big projects and having a badass team working on badass projects all around me, and this is just the next phase of that vision. I'm very excited to see what new things Jordan and Andrew bring to the show, and I'm very happy with how they accepted the opportunity to take RTAA to the next level.

Not much else to say other than thank you for all the years of support. Without anyone watching it, RTAA never would have been a success, and I would probably not have ever gotten a job. It's been a wild ride, but to be honest, this is only the beginning. Stay tuned.

    • RTAA Two Hundred Fifty

      Jordan Campe Diem

Two hundred fifty is a big number; I can't really believe it's already here. I've been making RTAA for over six years, but it feels like just yesterday this all started. Not gonna get too sentimental, but I would like to thank Jordan Battle for animating this bad boy, David Levy for mixing it all together with expert style, and Cole Gallian for editing it together (and of course Blaine, Barbara, Burnie, Miles, Gus, and Chris for lending their voices for it as well).

It's absolutely nuts to think this show could make it this far, and I don't labor under the delusion it's all thanks to me; the credit goes to you guys 100%. Without you watching, sharing, quoting, re-watching, and laughing, RTAA would not have made it this far, and I would probably be unemployed. So thank you, very, very, very, very much!

P.S. For those wanting the lyrics to Miles' song, here ya go:

Dishin' out garlicky bread sticks now

Cheddar Bay biscuits are out of style

Girl I'll dirty talk you every night and day

Providing you don't smother me in tit-tays!

    • Camp Camp Q&A!

      Jordan Campe Diem

      Hey there, campers!

This week is another off week for Camp Camp, BUT before you pull out your pitchforks and flamethrowers to overthrow the establishment, I just wanted to let you know we WILL be doing a special Q&A video for everyone!

This is the part where you come in. this week's camp activity is: ASK US QUESTIONS ABOUT CAMP CAMP! It'll be the four writers of the show (Kerry, Gray, Miles, and myself), plus anyone else nearby we can grab for other types of questions. Want to know how Miles gets into character for David? Curious what's with Kerry and Jews? Does it baffle you that Max wears a hoodie in the middle of summer? Let us know your deepest Camp Camp-related wonders -- from writing and concepting, to directing and animating -- and we could read them and (hopefully) answer them in this week's video!

      Thanks, and Campeee Diem!

    • Camp Camp Live Stream!

      Jordan Campe Diem

      Howdy-doo, campers!

As you know, Camp Camp has been going on strong for about a month now, and we've been absolutely overjoyed by everyone's reaction to it so far. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but there is no episode of Camp Camp this week. But before you tie us all to the flag pole and riot, we are going to be doing a special live stream, this Friday at 11AM CST! It'll be streamed here on RoosterTeeth.com for everyone, too!

But wait, there's more! Because of everyone's aforementioned great response to the show, we are adding TWO MORE EPISODES to season one! That's right, instead of a ten episode season, Camp Camp is going to be twelve episodes! After this break before episode six, we'll have another week off after episode eight, where we will most definitely be doing something fun like a live stream (or something even cooler, possibly). So don't forget: live stream on Friday for everyone, and two more episodes of Camp Camp!

      Campe Diem, everyone!

    • Camp Camp Trailer Trailer!

      Jordan Campe Diem

Imagine if you will, the worst fucking summer camp ever. Now imagine being stuck there all summer with a bunch of other weird kids.

That's the scenario we find in our new show, Camp Camp (The trailer just dropped, you should really check it out). The show follows Max, a cynical asshole of a ten-year-old who doesn't want to be anywhere near this camp or David, his cheerful optimistic camp counselor. Along with newcomers Nikki and Neil, they'll try to make it through the summer in a camp filled with a cast of characters there for other types of camps.

We're really excited for this new show, and for the Summer of Animation! And to celebrate, we'll be having a livestream on June 9th to talk about all the cool stuff happening around RT Animation, Camp Camp included! We might even have some cool stuff to show before the premiere (cough-cough).

Camp Camp will premiere the following day, June 10th at 11am Central Time. Sponsors see it first, so be sure to sign up if you haven't already (you can get a free 30-day trial so you have no real excuse). Site members get it 24 hours later, then it goes public and on YouTube a week after.

Hope you guys enjoy the trailer! Campe diem!

Hey everyone, I've been getting my streaming setup, well, set up for the last couple of weeks and it's time to take the plunge! Tonight I'll be streaming Overwatch, and should be streaming regularly thereafter -- I've got some fun ideas for stuff to play, so I'll keep you posted. Most streams will start around 8pm or 9pm CT on the weekdays, earlier on weekends. I'm still figuring out some stuff, but come watch me learn! Follow my Twitch channel right here.

Tonight's stream starts at 8pm central time!

      Thanks!

      Hey Jordan,

I know you don't have much to do with RTAA anymore, but I did notice you were still on the panel this year at RTX.  I didn't have a chance to catch this years panel because my guardian duties kept me busy all weekend. It's my favorite panel every year mostly because of all the fun stuff you and your staff have put together in the past for the audience.

I'll eventually watch the stream, but that usually excludes the cool stuff you have to show. Did you and/or your staff keep up the tradition this year and if so will any of that stuff ever be available to the public for folks who missed out? If not I totally understand, but it would be incredibly appreciated if it will.

Thanks for everything you do for us fans of RT animation!

Hey Jordan, so I heard you were busy with a X-Ray and Vav series and I thought about a few things, and I think it would be really awesome if you would put some of these things in the series. Maybe as a one time appaerance, maybe as a reappearing part of the series.

So here are my personal suggestions.

      Michael as Superhero/villain: Mogar
A hulk style hero/villain, who uses a diamond sword.

Ryan as Supervillain: The Mad King
A Supervillain with an army of robot cows and one huge robot cow called Edgar, who shoots lassers out of his utters.

      Caleb as a Superhero/villain
Uses a Captain america Shield which looks like a frisbee. Also throws frisbee shurikens.

      Barbara as Superhero/Villain: The Punn-isher
Kinda like the Riddler but with a lot of puns.

Burnie as Superhero: The horse puncher
      Stil thinking about his abilities

      Geoff as a Superhero/villain
Can make people completely drunk and this makes him Ray's arch enemy.

The Tower of Pimps as some kind of alien artefact.

I would be really honored if any of these things makes it into the series, but I trust that you will make the right choices for the series.

      • conrad500

Any version of flash will typically work. Having the tweening and such helps with simple animations like in the RTAA, but more complex art and animation is usually done frame by frame, which basically all versions of flash can handle. It's typically best to get whatever version of flash you can afford (check reviews first) and upgrade as you see fit.

I personally used CS3 for the longest time and never really liked CS4+, but they're pretty much exactly the same. The newer Creative Suites have a bunch of useful new features, but I've never found them to be needed, and new versions of adobe always crap out on me so...

I'm not Jordan though, but that's my 2 cents :P

Don't worry about software. Software won't make you good at animation. You should practice, practice, practice. Watch your favorite animated shows/movies and really study them, and refine your drawing skills.

I've studied a lot on my own since becoming a director. Learning a lot by doing, as well. But there's always more to learn. I think I'm heading the right direction!
