Feeling like a shitty family member right now.
Background all my immediate family lives in Canada, all my extended family lives overseas. Most of our vacations, childhood and as an adult have been to the “home country” so to speak, where we spend most of the trip visiting family.
My extended family rarely comes over to Canada for visits, they tour the USA regularly but not here. I understand NA is huge, but I doubt it would it kill them to stop by on the way to or from main vacation destinations.
Anyway, the issue at hand is one of my cousins is coming over with his fiancée, and he suggested we meet up. He’ll be just over a 2 hour drive away. At first I was all for it, but every suggestion I’ve made about arranging something has been shot down. We even offered to drive down, pick them up, put them up in our house and drive them back because they “couldn’t change flights” (nevermind they didn’t think of booking flights through here instead.) They’ll be in Canada for a week, but can’t be bothered to make the slightest effort to take time from their schedule to meet family they haven’t seen in years or ever, in my son’s case.
Now having meetup ideas shot down has killed my interest in driving down to see them at all. Am I being selfish and shitty?
